The '''North Pole''' is a [[Spear]] [[weapon]] dropped by the [[Ice Queen]] during the [[Frost Moon]]. It fires an icy spear projectile with no [[mana]] or [[ammo]] cost. The projectile travels straight and is then affected by gravity. It leaves a trail of snowflakes that deal damage, effectively "carpet bombing" the area between the player and the landing point of the projectile. The projectile will break upon contact with any enemy or block, and cannot be swung continuously.
−
'''Before posting''' an issue here, consider the following:

−
* As this is a ''noticeboard'' and not a talk page, '''please refrain from discussing'''.

−
* Post only issues that ''require'' administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.

−
* Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding '''{{[[template:delete|delete]]}}''' to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a [[:Category:Candidates for deletion|candidate for deletion]].

−
* Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a [[Terraria Wiki:Community portal|request for comments]] instead.

−
* Mediation requests between users should only be made ''if'' a resolution could not be reached between users.

−
* For technical issues that admins can't handle, please see the [[Terraria Wiki:Curse noticeboard|Curse noticeboard]].

−
<!-- * For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our [[Help:Contents|help center]].

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always ''avoid a revert war'' with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene.

== Notes ==

*The snowflakes are affected by the direction of the weather, so make sure to adjust aim to compensate.

== Tips ==
−
; Creating a new request &mdash; vandals

  +
*Fighting enemies out in the open gives a huge advantage, especially during the holiday moon summonings.
−
# Edit the ''Vandal issues'' section

  +
*Aim it straight up and launch the missile upwards to allow all the snowflakes to descend and rain unrelenting damage against large targets. This can destroy bosses like the [[Santa-NK1]], [[Mourning Wood]], and more with ease.
−
# At the top of the list, use the <code>{{tl|vandal|IP address or username here}}</code> template. Provide a short and neutral summary of the issue

  +
*This can be the highest melee DPS weapon in the game, and aiming is key to getting damage in. For example, spamming upwards on [[Pumpking]] easily damages him, and will probably take only a few seconds to defeat him.
−
; Creating a new request &mdash; non-vandal cases (e.g. user issues, page protection/undeletion, etc.)

  +
*Any percentage of damage increase from armor, modifiers, or accessories used in addition with the tip above can easily cause the amount of overall accumulated damage to skyrocket dramatically.
−
# Add [{{fullurl:Terraria Wiki:Admin noticeboard|action=edit&section=new}} a new section (+)] to the page and enter an appropriate title (without using templates or links) in the subject field.

−
# In the edit field, enter a short and neutral summary of the issue. Use the <code>{{tl|user|ip address or username here}}</code> template to refer to users involved with the case and provide links to important pages or edits.

−
As a sign of courtesy, also leave a message on the talk page of any involved user.

== Trivia ==
  +
*The [[wikipedia:North Pole|North Pole]] is the northernmost point of the Earth, and many Christmas stories state that Santa Claus lives there. As the Frost Moon is a Christmas-themed event this item's name may refer to this, or alternatively to how the North Pole is a place of eternal frost.

== Please protect the Upcoming Features page from uncited information. ==

−
Context: http://terraria.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Upcoming_features&action=history I initially posted on the related talk page that I would be removing any information on the page that was not included in the provided sources. After three days of inaction, I removed them. Apparently someone saw it fit to insult me and begin an edit war. I again removed uncited information. I also provided a quote from the page header that my removal was justified as per the wiki rules. I propose protecting this page before any more edit and flame wars are started. --<small>--Preceding unsigned comment added by [[User:67.176.172.128|67.176.172.128]] ([[User talk:67.176.172.128|talk]] • [[Special:Contributions/67.176.172.128|contribs]]) </small>

== Server Issues ==

−
Ok, so my friend and I keep trying to join a multiplayer server. We have tried every world we have and it says we have the same ip address and ports, and it won't let us enter either ones world, it just says loading, even though we have given it up to an hour to load. I was hoping that you could help us with this issue. ^w^ Thankies.

−
−
P.S. The IP that it says we both have is 127.0.0.1 and the port it says we both have is 7777. When my friend tries to enter the port to mine, it doesn't even work for her. Really hoping you guys can fix this ^_^ <small>--Preceding unsigned comment added by [[User:‎76.107.65.255|‎76.107.65.255]] ([[User talk:‎76.107.65.255|talk]] • [[Special:Contributions/‎76.107.65.255|contribs]]) </small>

:127.0.0.1 and localhost means this computer. It is a hostname that the computer's software and users may employ to access the computer's own network services via its loopback network interface. If you want you and your friend to join your server, get the computer's IPv4. You can simply do this on a windows computer by: clicking start menu and type "cmd" on the run bar (without the quotes), in the command prompt --> type "ipconfig" (without the quotes) now from the Ethernet Local Area Connection # (# represents a number from starting from 1) then find the first IP listed as "IP Address" (should be the 2nd one from 1st). That IP usally works when my brother is hosting a server so me and him can play terraria together. Also, when commenting on talk pages or here, use <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> to sign your comments. Thank you and Good luck! {{User:Zdroid9770/Sig1}} 08:37, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

−
:And by the way, the port is 7777 by default. No need to change that really ;) {{User:Zdroid9770/Sig1}} 08:40, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

−
:::: Well I ask because we tried the 7777 thing with the ips of both of our computers and it just always says loading. Is it because we aren't close to each other or what? ::::: How are you hosting this server, by the in-game way? Or the application? (terraria-server.exe). And who ever is hosting the server, make sure you use that computer IP for both you and your friend. {{User:Zdroid9770/Sig1}} 09:50, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

:::::: I guess it is in-game. I bought the game for me and her over Steam.[[User:GamerDino|GamerDino]] ([[User talk:GamerDino|talk]]) 09:55, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

::::::: If you are hosting the server for you and your friend to play, use YOUR computer IP. == Protection and rewrite of Modifiers page ==

−
Countless times in the page's history, you can find people changing the percentage values of the modifiers despite the numerous reminders that they may be different for you because of rounding. They are doing it without any proof or comment, they don't change the second listing of the modifier and I doubt that they are actually reading the code to find this.

−
This is very difficult for me as I actually use these values for DPS calculation, and while I can just use the percentages on the weapon in game, I need the base value for when I'm thinking ahead.

−
I advise that users should be limited from changing the percentages, or at least be required to submit evidence that the new value is true.

== AJAX on Terraria Wiki ==

−
Crystallized and Equazcion and I [[User_talk:Crystallized#Suggestions|have recently been discussing]] the possibility of implementing "[[wikipedia:Ajax (programming)|AJAX]]" on Terraria Wiki as a means to improve article loading. Could any administrators please share their opinion on this? Thanks in advance! [[User:NoseOfCthulhu|NoseOfCthulhu]] ([[User talk:NoseOfCthulhu|talk]]) 21:45, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

−
:Cliff notes: Long pages like Item IDs etc. can take an excessively long time to load, and/or freeze browsers; and editing them often fails. Some wikis split long lists into multiple pages, and use one central page that refers to them; the central page uses Ajax to dynamically load the split-off pages and display them as sections when a user clicks each individually.

−
:* See [http://wowpedia.org/Jewelcrafting_recipes#Designs this example at Wowpedia]

−
:* [http://wowpedia.org/Apprentice_jewelcrafting_designs ...and the page containing the first section's content]

−
:* [http://wowpedia.org/Template:Ajax This is the template they use]

−
:* [http://wowpedia.org/MediaWiki:Common.js This] contains the Javascript required (search for "AJAX tables" to see the relevant code section).

−
: I don't know offhand if simply copying the Javascript and template over here will make the whole thing work. Some editing and testing would probably be required by someone with the knowhow and admin access. It seems like an elegant solution to the loading issue though, as everything is kept on the same page, but content is loaded in browsers in smaller bite-size portions. This would also cause lower demands on the server. <font face="Century Gothic">[[User:Equazcion|<span style="color:#000080">'''Equazcion'''</span>]] <small>[[User talk:Equazcion|'''(<span style="color:#007BA7">talk</span>)''']]</small> 22:02, 25 Mar 2014 (UTC)</font>

::Alright, I've created the [[:Template:Ajax|template]] and a [[:Terraria Wiki:Sandbox|test]], and after enabling javascript (by creating User:USERNAME/common.js) it does seem to work. So if you can create a Common.js file that works well (e.g. only contains the functionality needed for this template) I can copy it to [[:MediaWiki:Common.js]]. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience with javascript, nor the time, so I won't be able to do this myself. (By the way, there does seem to be a bug in the code: if you click show->hide->show you wont be able to hide it anymore after that.) --[[User:0icke0|0icke0]] ([[User talk:0icke0|talk]]) 12:12, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

::::::After some thinking I decided to bring this issue directly to Curse. Currently it seems all Gamepedia wikis are required to individually make the effort of implementing AJAX, so I made the suggestion of making AJAX a default function like Wikitext markup. The latest mail reply I've received states that the ticket has been sent to the platform/development team, so hopefully there can be some changes. Other than that I'd like to thank both of you for your efforts. I was really impressed by all the stuff you guys made (even if it didn't quite solve the issue), things like that are like magic for me! Thanks for helping out!! I'm also sorry to hear about the "recent changes spam" - I think you're a very good contributor, Equazcion, so it's a shame your work has been rewarded with complaints. :::::::I was just about to reply to this ticket, but I figured I'd come respond here. The simple answer is that while AJAX is supported by default, there's really no way to implement it globally for technical reasons, so each local wiki will have to develop their own solution to implementing it and unfortunately we're not able to offer direct support with that at this time. My recommendation would be to continue experimenting here, and to perhaps reach out to the team over at [http://wowpedia.org WoWpedia] for some assistance. == PC-only template ==

−
I've been toying with ways to make the {{tl|pc only}} template sleeker and not push content down so much:

−
*[[User:Equazcion/pconly]]

−
−
As a bolder alternative, it's possible to push the notice up above the top border of the page, to make neat little page badges. Wikipedia does this in some instances. Here are a few possibilities:

−
*[[User:Equazcion/pctop1]]

−
*[[User:Equazcion/pctop2]]

−
*[[User:Equazcion/pctop3]]

−
*[[User:Equazcion/pctop4]]

−
−
The {{tl|pc only}} template is protected so I can't implement any of this myself, but if an admin thinks any of these would be an improvement feel free. <font face="Century Gothic">[[User:Equazcion|<span style="color:#000080">'''Equazcion'''</span>]] <small>[[User talk:Equazcion|'''(<span style="color:#007BA7">talk</span>)''']]</small> 15:27, 29 Mar 2014 (UTC)</font>

:Personally I like [[User:Equazcion/pconly]] and [[User:Equazcion/pctop3]] best. pctop1 and pctop2 may hide the page name on small screens, so those may not be a good idea. I'm not sure what other users prefer, but if I get no further response the next few days I'll implement one of those. --[[User:0icke0|0icke0]] ([[User talk:0icke0|talk]]) 10:23, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

::They are all neat, but I suspect that 2 and 4 may fail to catch some users' view due to the lack of a colored background. :I'd like to throw my opinion out! :D The [[User:Equazcion/pconly]] and [[User:Equazcion/pctop3]] seems to be the best due to the colored background so it will stand out from the text throughout the thread. Over these to template, I'd prefer [[User:Equazcion/pconly]] because its more "eye-catching" to find it on the article page to the top-center instead of the other being next to the article name to the right. I'd vote for [[User:Equazcion/pconly]]. :P {{User:Zdroid9770/Sig1}} 04:43, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

== X-box new update glitches ==

−
−
So it all started as soon as i got the new update for x-box. As it finished updating i went on to a very important world,it was important because i made a really cool house that i worked really hard on, and, well i guess you could say i was "moving" because the corruption got out of control in my other world, but when i went to the house, the very middle of it was moved about 50 blocks lower, and the left and right side were still in place, in addition to that the middle was also covered in LAVA, it was EVERYWHERE!!!!! Then i also checked the other worlds, but the one with the out of control corruption (as in it corrupted to much, so my easy way to avoid was to move worlds not glitch)would not load, it would say load failed each time, and this never happened before. My conclusion was to delete the new update, and the worlds would be fine, but when i did that my character was GONE! Like i deleted him (i never did), it only said 'Create new character'. So i just turned off my x-box and found something else to do. The next day i decided to install the update and start over. So my character was back (yay...) but the worlds were gone, none left! I started over (though with my old character) and no glitches were to be seen for a while. Until one day (only about 2 or 3 days later). I had a decent house filled with rooms for all my people and rooms for the people who i would have gotten later in the game. So when i went on, every one was gone, like they died, they all had to re-spawn. But when i went to grab something from a chest, i discovered a new glitch that wasn't occurring the day before, i could not open a chest, i tried so many times but it would not open. That's when i remembered one of the chests were empty, so i destroyed it to see if i placed it back down if it would work, but i couldn't even place the chest!!!! So i continued to play the game with out the items in the chest. Until one day (the day i post this) ALL the items in the slot bar changed!!!!! Literately!!!! They were different items!!! My Exalibur (legend sword of king Aurthur, forget how to spell) was 24 gold coins!!! It also had completely random tool-tips like: consumable, and other stuff. I will give 1 more example. I forget the item but it turned into a wooden helmet for a girl, (i am a guy) and it said vanity item, but also had a defence of 20 000! TWENTY THOUSAND! The items also stacked past the limit, because i had 13 of these. That's when i decided to submit this. Please tell me what is going on, this used to be my FAVORITE game, thanks for reading, and tell me whats happening.{{unsigned|MistaHappy663|15:27, 24 April 2014 (UTC)}}

:That is quite the story. It might be an idea to report these bugs on the [http://www.terrariaonline.com/forum/ official forums] ([http://www.terrariaonline.com/forums/console.89/ console bug reports]), though I also suggest you divide your text info smaller sections to avoid the "wall of text" appearance. == Freezing!? ==

−

Okay so on the Xbox version recently there was an update (Xbox)as you all know. However I open my piggy bank and see a whole bunch of AMAZING items. So naturally I take them all out and put them in a chest and save my game. Now every time I try to get on terraria my xbox freezes. Is there any way to fix this or can I not play Terraria again. Also I had lost some items such as my Drax, 5 Light Discs, and other items I did not remember. (it was my whole top row of items) So a reply on how to fix this would be gratefully appreciated{{unsigned|Darthsmash|01:32, 25 April 2014 (UTC)}}

:I am sorry to hear that you are having such severe problems. Unfortunately I cannot provide any help for fixing it, but I suggest you report the problem on the official community site as in the [[Terraria_Wiki:Admin_noticeboard#X-box_new_update_glitches|above section]]. In addition to those links, there also seems to be a [http://www.terrariaonline.com/threads/regarding-the-1-2-console-update-issues.140593/ official request for feedback] on console bugs. Other than that I think I personally would give Terraria a pause until they come up with a fix. Currently the console version seems to be a maze of bugs, and the feedback post suggests an update will arrive soon. Template:Pc only

The North Pole is a Spear weapon dropped by the Ice Queen during the Frost Moon. It fires an icy spear projectile with no mana or ammo cost. The projectile travels straight and is then affected by gravity. It leaves a trail of snowflakes that deal damage, effectively "carpet bombing" the area between the player and the landing point of the projectile. The projectile will break upon contact with any enemy or block, and cannot be swung continuously.

Like most Spears, its best Modifier is Godly.

Notes

  • The snowflakes are affected by the direction of the weather, so make sure to adjust aim to compensate.

Template:Bug Template:Bug

Tips

  • Fighting enemies out in the open gives a huge advantage, especially during the holiday moon summonings.
  • Aim it straight up and launch the missile upwards to allow all the snowflakes to descend and rain unrelenting damage against large targets. This can destroy bosses like the Santa-NK1, Mourning Wood, and more with ease.
  • This can be the highest melee DPS weapon in the game, and aiming is key to getting damage in. For example, spamming upwards on Pumpking easily damages him, and will probably take only a few seconds to defeat him.
  • Any percentage of damage increase from armor, modifiers, or accessories used in addition with the tip above can easily cause the amount of overall accumulated damage to skyrocket dramatically.

Trivia

  • The North Pole is the northernmost point of the Earth, and many Christmas stories state that Santa Claus lives there. As the Frost Moon is a Christmas-themed event this item's name may refer to this, or alternatively to how the North Pole is a place of eternal frost.

History

  • 1.2.3: Damage reduced from 75 to 73, projectile cap added.
