The Golem is a Hardmode boss. It is summoned by using a Lihzahrd Power Cell on the Lihzahrd Altar, found in the Lihzahrd Temple, after Plantera has been defeated.

Attacks
Golem's main body cannot move through blocks, but its fist and laser attacks can. Its stone head can also travel through blocks once it detaches in the second stage.

First stage
The Golem will shoot ricocheting fireballs, attack with its fists that extend from chains, and jump around. These increase in frequency as each part takes more damage: When the fists are damaged, they will attack more often; when the head is damaged, the Golem jumps and shoots more often. Golem's fists can travel through blocks, but have limited range, and will also retract immediately upon being hit with any weapon.

* When the head falls below half health (8000), all previous attacks continue, but the head will begin to fire lasers that can travel through blocks. It fires more rapidly as it takes more damage.

Second stage
When the head has taken full damage, the fist and laser attacks stop, and its stone head detaches to reveal its "true" mechanical head. The stone head flies around with increased speed, becoming invulnerable to attacks, and traveling through blocks. The true head then becomes available to target, with 9,000 health, and must be attacked to defeat Golem.

* When the true head falls below half health (4500),the flying stone head will again begin firing lasers that travel through blocks while flying around. It fires more rapidly as it takes more damage.

The Rune Wizard is a rare, Hardmode Caster Enemy that is found underground after entering Hardmode. Upon spawning it will proceed to fire magical projectiles at the player that penetrate terrain, similar to that of the Fire Imp's. However, unlike the Fire Imp's projectiles, the Rune Wizard's cannot be deflected with weapons. Rune Wizards will teleport to a new location after firing 8 projectiles in random intervals, or after receiving damage. It will always drop the Rune Hat and Rune Robe upon death.
Notes
* The Golem can only be summoned in a world where Plantera has been defeated. Attempting to summon it in a world where Plantera has not yet been defeated will fail, and a Lihzahrd Power Cell will not be consumed from your inventory.

* In order to use a Lihzahrd Power Cell on PC, you must right-click the altar. Holding a Power Cell and left-clicking will do nothing.

* Like most bosses, Golem will despawn if the player travels too far away, including traveling back through the Lihzarhd Temple.

*In the mobile version it is possible to blow the door up and summon golem pre-plantera, even pre-hardmode. In the console version it is possible to summon golem pre-plantera by using the power cell when you're under the room's floor.

Notes
* Rune Wizards are immune to the Poisoned and Venom Debuffs.

  +
* The Rune Wizard can be very dangerous to players with weak Hardmode items, especially if it spawns in an unreachable place.
* When summoned, the Golem will spawn above the Lihzahrd Altar and fall. If you have already beaten the Golem, you can use the Picksaw to pick up the Lihzahrd Altar and move it to a more suitable arena.

  +
* The Rune Wizard spawns very rarely.
* The Golem's fist attack will only fire at you when you are in the middle or to the same side as the fist. A fist will not cross the Golem to strike a player, even if the other fist has been destroyed.

  +
* The Rune Wizard seems to be like a Hardmode Tim. The vanity items dropped closely resemble the same items dropped by Tim. The two also have similar attack patterns and drop unique items only obtainable by defeating them.
  +
*It appears to be completely engulfed in green and yellow particles, making it difficult to see the enemy itself, similar to Fire Imps.

Tips
  +
* The Rune Wizard inflicts extreme contact damage, enough to kill most players in 3 hits. However, its spells do far less damage, at around 50 with endgame gear.
* A Golem is originally a being from Jewish folklore, created from mud or clay and brought to life through rituals in order to defend townspeople from attacks. The theme persists in stories and video games today.

  +
* The Rune Wizard will appear more often around underground gem caverns.
* The sign on Golem's chest is also on the Heat Ray's fuel tank and the Temple Key's handle.

  +
* An easy way to fight this foe is to continually attack him. This will essentially paralyze him, preventing his attacks and teleportation.
  +
* Rune Wizards inflict the second most contact damage of all enemies, second only to the Dungeon Guardian, but as it doesn't attempt to touch players, this isn't terribly important.
  +
* It is recommended to try to dodge his projectiles as much as possible and attack with ranged weapons. This is not so easy to do since he will only spawn in caves, which are usually closed and small areas.
  +
* The Piranha Gun is very effective against the Rune Wizard since the piranha follows teleports.
