Tips[]
- Due to its respectable defense and stat bonuses, this is a viable alternative to Hardmode ore sets, especially for those who do not wish to grind for resources.
- It works well with the Nimbus Rod, Clinger Staff, and Queen Spider Staff since it boosts their damage output without sacrificing bonuses to melee or ranged weapons.
- In Classic Mode, Crystal Assassin armor's dash is the only dash effect that is accessible before defeating Plantera.
- In Expert Mode, the dash may be used as a replacement for the Shield of Cthulhu or Master Ninja Gear, freeing up an accessory slot. If this slot is used for an offensive accessory like an emblem, Crystal Assassin armor effectively provides higher offensive bonuses than Adamantite or Titanium armor, which cannot achieve the same level of offense without sacrificing the dash. However, the lack of maximum mana bonus might make this a less attractive choice for mages.
- The dash provided by Crystal Assassin armor is often better than the Shield of Cthulhu's dash, since it covers a greater distance and will not be interrupted by contact with an enemy if a Cobalt Shield or its upgrades are equipped. There are many situations where accidentally bumping into an enemy can be extremely undesirable, notably when fighting Plantera or Skeletron Prime. However, it should be noted that this also makes dashes potentially riskier in other situations, as dashing into an enemy will no longer provide the player with invincibility frames.
Trivia[]
- The curved horns featured on the helmet resemble the horns of some types of kabuto, commonly known as samurai helmets.
- This is the last set of armor that is dropped directly by a certain boss or enemies. This trait is shared with the Ninja armor, Gladiator Armor, Ancient Cobalt armor, and Ancient Shadow armor.
- It is also the only Hardmode armor with this trait. Frost armor was once made available through the Ice Golem, before Frost Cores were introduced.
