Extractinator
The Extractinator is an item which converts Silt, Slush and Desert Fossils into more valuable items such as ores, coins, and gems. It can be found rarely in Gold Chests, Ice Chests, or other chests in the underground, and Wooden Crates. Underground Cabins in the Underground Desert also have a chance to contain a placed Extractinator.
In order to use the Extractinator, it first needs to be placed in the world. Afterwards, suitable blocks need to be consumed (with the ⚒ Use / Attack key) directly on the Extractinator within its 3×3 frame.
Feeding blocks to the Extractinator is the only way to obtain Amber and Amber Mosquitos, and, along with opening crates, the only reliable way to obtain a world's alternative ores.

Notes
- Despite increasing block placement speed, neither the Builder Potion, Brick Layer, nor Architect Gizmo Pack cause blocks to be processed more quickly. The speed depends solely on the block's use time.[1]
- The world-generated ores appear with equal chances as their alternatives, e.g., the Extractinator produces an equal chance of Gold Ore and Platinum Ore, regardless of which is found underground in that world.
- Unlike crates, the Extractinator will not provide Hardmode ores even if the world is in Hardmode. It will not produce high-tier pre-Hardmode ores such as Demonite, either.
- A full stack of 999 Silt or Slush Blocks yields a fair collection of loot. The table below breaks down, prorates, and summarizes the sale prices.
- Most of the gems are much more valuable when crafted into Stained Glass: Each gem except Diamond and Amber makes 1 worth of Stained Glass.
- Diamonds and Amber cannot be turned into Stained Glass, or anything else with a higher sale price than the gems.
- However, Amber can be crafted into Crate Potions, which allow fishing for crate loot worth far more than the Amber's sale price.
- If processing Desert Fossils, the resulting Sturdy Fossils are unsalable themselves, but can be turned into Bone Throwing Knives and sold that way.
- Notice how much of the total average payoff comes from the small chance of obtaining Platinum Coins. The total yields are usually −191 lower, but with a 7% (silt/slush) or 6.3% (desert fossils) chance of a platinum jackpot.
- Most of the gems are much more valuable when crafted into Stained Glass: Each gem except Diamond and Amber makes 1 worth of Stained Glass.

Tips
- If processing a large quantity of blocks, it may be helpful to clear out inventory space (16 or 17 slots) so the rewarded items are not deposited on the ground.
- When trying to find an Extractinator it is easiest to look in the Underground Desert
since most underground houses have an Extractinator. - On the Nintendo Switch version, using a Brick Layer/Architect Gizmo Pack will make it cost nothing but one Silt to use indefinitely, making an infinite source of any blocks obtained by extracting Silt.
Trivia
- When moused over on the map, its name appears as "Silt Extractinator".
- The sound that is played when picking up an item is played every time an item is processed, even if the result is not picked up.
- Also, the sufix "-inator" is probably a reference to the animated series "Phineas and Ferb"
