Attacking from the right angle, I managed to deal noticeably more damage per second with a flamethrower than a megashark + cursed bullets. I'd strongly advise using a flamethrower against it sometime; the damage is insane. PlagueOfCats 13:39, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Personally, either high damage sword... or chainsaw - it damages it very fast. And of course adamantite armor + 16 defence from accessoires + iron skin potion. I then just standing in it's body receiving 1 damage every damage tick so lasers or probes dont hurt me. To replenish health i use greater healing potion kill probes as they always give a heart. --Dart193 22:46, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Summoning on Corruption

Exactly WHY is it "recommended" that the boss is summoned in the corruption? Since it can be summoned anywhere, wouldn't you want to fight the boss in an area with the least dangerous mobs? --GauHelldragon 20:21, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

In corruption he never despawns so you have unlimited time to beat him. --Sergiusalceanu 19:57, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
This is entirely untrue. This is only true for the eater of worlds, but the destroyer follows the rules of most other bosses and runs away at daybreak. 216.232.137.221 23:28, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Little video for Sorcerers

i'm suggesting a tutorial to defeat them with the Magical Harp, it's insanely efficient.

Melgrin

Easiest? I don't get it... my personal opinion on Destroyer.

Honestly, I just don't think this is the easiest of bosses. Probably middle, or hard. This has provided most of a challenge for me than The Twins, and even Skeletron Prime. I've died about 13 times, and won 0. But with the Twins, I've died about 6 times, and won 3. I was using Crystal Storm, and just about every buff needed. (also grav potion)

Maybe you should try a different boss area. Unlike most bosses that require a large open area, its best to have a smaller area with multiple vertical walls. That way you can still move around somewhat, while the walls block almost all of the lasers fired. Also for an easier battle you may want to try this method or check out other strategies on that page. --Icke 11:16, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
It is slightly easier, mostly due to the heart drops from the probes. As long as you have some space to stand on (like wooden platforms on top or something), it becomes easier, especially with a weapon that hits multiple pieces at once. Just make sure you have enough reach to destroy the probes as well so your health stays up. --Heireau (talk) 19:16, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

1.2

Today I've just got the mechanical worm by killing one monster in hallow. And when I killed The Destroyer he dropped 2 fast clocks and 2 Mechanical Skulls. I didn't find any hallow ore :( Also he had 40k or 60k Thatguywithoutglases (talk) 16:10, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

My Experience

I just fought the destroyer and killed him with melee. I don't know if this is supposed to be another part of his drops according to randomization but I got about 30 Hallowed bars and 30ish on the Souls of Might as well. Apparently Hallowed bars is all thats needed to make the armors and weapons now since alot of the crafting materials is switched up too.

Very Outdated Information

The information about the destroyer's attack values, and likely many other hidden values, are outdated. I did a bit of checking, as i noticed that according to the wiki's values i should be taking 1 or 2 damage from his lasers with 40 defense, but i am instead taking 20 to 30. His attack values have changed and likely his defense values. New testing must be done, I'll do what I can but there also seems to be a random factor in the damage that's done past just critical hits.
