This guide is a guide which walks the player through “beating” the Tutorial.

Getting Started[]

Once you’ve followed the initial directions to complete the start of the Tutorial, the real fun begins. Gather some decent weapons and Armor, so you are prepared for whatever it is that you come across while exploring, building, or even just crafting.

The Crimson or Corruption Boss Preparation[]

When you start to explore, you will find either the Crimson or the Corruption in your world. These biomes have big Chasms to avoid and enemies to fight.

Don’t fight anything in the crimson or corruption yet, but destroy the grass to get either crimson seeds or corrupt seeds so you can safely farm Vile Mushrooms (in the Corruption) or Vicious Mushrooms (in the Crimson).

After you have at least 20 Vile Powder or Vicious Powder, the easy part is done. After you have finished this step, go back to the crimson/corruption and kill as many enemies as you can.

You will get Vertebrae from the Crimson or Rotten Chunks in the Corruption.

After you have completed the first two steps, you should go mining in order to get better Armor (such as Iron armor).

Once the Corruption or Crimson has spread sufficiently, the farming can begin. Kill as many Eaters of Souls or Crimera as possible in order to get Rotten Chunks or Vertebrae, and farm Vile Mushrooms or Vicious Mushrooms and craft them into Vile Powder or Vicious Powder. Keep farming until you have 15 Rotten Chunks/Vertebrae and 30 Vile/Vicious Powder. Once you have the required materials, make your way back to an Altar. When you get there, craft Worm Food or Bloody Spine.

Now you should be able to fight the Eater of Worlds or the Brain of Cthulhu.

The Eater of Worlds or The Brain of Cthulhu[]

This next step involves defeating the Eater of Worlds for the corruption or the Brain of Cthulhu for the crimson

These two bosses will help you get better armor, such as Demonite armor or Crimtane armor.

First, however, you must be prepared:

  • Craft a Light's Bane and a Campfire. The Campfire will heal you, and the Light's Bane will be your weapon.
  • If you made your Corruption or Crimson farm away from the spawn area, make an arena and be prepared with decent armor.

Once you have defeated the Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu, you will have collected plenty of Shadow Scales or Tissue Samples, which can be used to craft Shadow armor or Crimson armor.

It is recommended to keep farming the Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu in order to obtain the Nightmare Pickaxe or the Deathbringer Pickaxe so you can mine better ores for better armor.

The Dungeon[]

This step is completely optional, but highly recommended. In order to enter The Dungeon, Skeletron must be defeated. By this point, you should have Shadow armor or Crimson armor. If you don't, you may want at least Gold or Silver armor. Proper armor should make the Skeletron fight far easier. For strategies, see the Skeletron Guide.

Now The Dungeon is unlocked! Besides the occasional Cursed Skull, the Dungeon should be relatively easy with your current gear. Try to destroy any Water Candles you see, as they increase the spawn rate of enemies in the area. Open all chests you come across, specifically looking for helpful key items:

The Wall of Flesh[]

Now to face the final threat: the Wall of Flesh, the only thing keeping you from Hardmode! With your newly acquired Nightmare Pickaxe, you should be able to mine through Obsidian, which means you can make a hellevator to get to the underground. Be prepared for a long fall; you may die from Fall Damage, so it’s a good idea to have either a Lucky Horseshoe or many blocks to build a staircase. It’s also a good idea to store your items in a Piggy Bank or Safe (you’ll need the Merchant to move in to buy these).

At this point, you’ll need to farm Voodoo Demons in order to get the Guide Voodoo Doll. Once you get one, save it, because you’ll need to throw the Doll into the lava to summon the Wall of Flesh. Take caution in killing Voodoo Demons, because if the Guide Voodoo Doll drops into lava, the Wall of Flesh may be summoned before you are fully prepared for the fight.

Twins[]

This is the real tricky part. It’s almost impossible to make any ‘fast’ progress now, but there is a way. You’ll need to keep killing the Wall of Flesh until you obtain a Laser Rifle. Once you’ve got that, you’ll need to stock up on Mana Potions, which can now be bought from the Merchant.

Your next goal will be to fight the Twins. They are an easy source of Hallowed Bars, and their Souls of Sight will allow you to get by without Cobalt, Palladium, Mythril, Orchalcum, Adamantite, or Titanium. The biggest concern for this battle is defeating both of them within the end of the night, so they don't run away. It may be useful to use Firework Rockets. However, this can be painfully time-consuming because it requires you have the Party Girl in your world. A Cursed Flames spell tome or Clockwork Assault Rifle can also help immensely in the battle.

Once you’ve got the Hallowed Bars, there’s not much you can do now. You could place them or sell them, but you can't craft them because there’s no Hardmode Anvil. You could try glitching the oneVerify Demon Altar to break it twice, or maybe find a second one (also via a World Generation glitch). If you do happen to get the second Hardmode Ore, make sure to search around the world and mine them asap, because they’ll allow you to make Hallowed weapons.

If You Made it[]

Kudos to you, you managed to get the world into Hardmode! Your first goal: Destroy your world's Demon/Crimson Altar. Doing this will spawn one of two different ores:

Once you have full palladium or cobalt gear, you’ll need to fight Ocram to make more progress. Buy lots of Greater Healing Potions from the Merchant and prepare an arena.

The Age of Chlorophyte[]

All people should follow the next step. Of course, that is if you were very, very lucky and got adamantite into your world.

If you managed to get Adamantite, your first goal will be to craft an Adamantite Forge. That will allow you to craft Chlorophyte weapons and armor. You’ll need to first create an artificial Jungle and craft a Drax, however.

Once you’re all geared up, proceed to the next step.

Side Quest: Plantera[]

This is a completely optional side-quest. If you only have Hallowed armor, you'll need an arena. Even if you have Chlorophyte armor, an arena is still recommended. If needed, you can create an artificial Jungle within the spawn area (for invincibility) for an easy battle. Plantera can drop:

Ocram[]

Now for Ocram. With your new gear and spawn area invincibility, the only remaining problem is dealing damage. The Venus Magnum (if you farmed Plantera) or Megashark (from farming in the ocean) can deal massive amounts of damage, especially if you use Chlorophyte Bullets.

Endgame[]

Once you’ve farmed Ocram enough, you should be able to craft Dragon armor, Titan armor, and/or Spectral armor, the endgame armors of a glitched Tutorial. After this, you can take a few screenshots and show off to your friends, but it’s highly recommended that you start a real world. It’s much easier than beating the Tutorial. And... this was all pointless because you cannot save your tutorial world.
