The Traveling Merchant is a unique NPC vendor who randomly visits the player's Town for a day. His inventory is randomized and different every visit, selling a small selection of the items listed below. He stays for only one day at a time, and leaves at 6 PM in-game time.

He can randomly spawn once you have at least 2 other NPCs. He does not need his own house in order to spawn, and will generally spawn near existing NPCs, spending the day walking around near them.

Trivia

  • The "Combination hookah and coffee maker. Also makes julienne fries!" quote is from Aladdin. The merchant/narrator says it at the beginning when he's touting his wares.
  • One of his quotes is a reference to a man who yells "One pound fish!" to sell fish, popularized by the song "One Pound Fish".
  • The traveling merchant also makes several quotes referencing things he does not sell: fish, coffee makers and Angel Statues.
    • Furthermore, he returns to the running gag of Angel Statues having some supposed function.
  • One of his names, Yomama, is a reference to the popular joke known as "Yo mama is so [insert insult]".
    • Another name, Willy, might be a reference to the character Willy Loman from Death of a Salesman.
    • Mercer might be a reference to the Mercere, the merchant magicians in Ars Magica
    • 3 of his names, Gallius, Mercer and Llewellyn are Nightingales from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Nightingales are a secret elite group of high-ranked thieves among the Thieves Guild. This may indicate that the Traveling Merchant is actually a thief, as he "collects" things. However, only Gallius and Mercer were actually Nightingales; Llewellyn is a bard, and got his nickname "Nightingale" because of his excellent singing.
  • Many of the things he sells are of Asian origin, many from the Qin Dynasty.
