The Scourge of the Corruptor is a Hardmode post-Plantera weapon that fires projectiles, yet inflicts melee damage and has no mana or ammunition cost. It is always found inside the Dungeon's Corruption Chest in Corruption worlds (Crimson worlds will not contain one). A Corruption Key will be needed to open the Corruption Chest.

The Scourge of the Corruptor fires a fast projectile that looks like a small Eater of Souls, then splits into 2-4 smaller Eaters on impact with a solid block or enemy. The mini-eaters have homing capabilities, can travel approximately 700 feet, and ricochet up to 5 times before dissipating, dealing approximately half of the weapon's damage each. Both the main projectile and mini-Eaters are unaffected by gravity or non-solid blocks. The mini-eaters have almost no knockback, but in large numbers they can keep enemies "locked" in place.

The Scourge is a melee weapon and benefits from armor and accessories that provide melee bonuses, such as Turtle armor and the Fire Gauntlet, as well as the effects of Flasks.

Its best Modifier is Godly.

Notes

• Eaters will home in on Mimics and Nymphs before they begin attacking.
• When shot at a one-tile thick wall from the right or below, there is a chance for the Eaters to spawn on the other side of it.
• Tiny eaters cannot break cobwebs.
• Tiny eaters do not harm critters.
• This weapon's Crimson counterpart is the Vampire Knives.
• As of update 1.3.0.1, if a Corruption Key is obtained, it can not be used before defeating Plantera.
• Eaters will not home in on players while in PvP.
