"Hellfire" redirects here. For the yoyo obtained by defeating enemies close to the underworld, see Hel-Fire.
The Magma Stone is an accessory that drops from Lava Bats (2% chance) and Hellbats (0.67% chance) in The Underworld. It causes the wearer's melee attacks to inflict the Hellfire / On Fire! debuff on enemies, and also add orange flame particles effect on both the weapon sprite and their projectile that gives off light. The duration of the debuff is random, and varies according to the table on the right.
The Hellfire debuff is a stronger version of On Fire! and causes the afflicted enemy to lose 15 instead of 4 health per second.

Notes[]
- Though the tooltip does not specifically say so, the fire effect works not only on melee weapons, but also tools that inflict melee damage such as pickaxes, axes and hammers.
- Whips are not affected by the Magma Stone, despite being affected by many melee-related stats, and even the other bonuses of the Fire Gauntlet.
Javelins and Bone Javelins will apply the fire effect, even though they deal throwing damage.- The Magma Stone can be thrown into shimmer to change into the Lava Charm.
Tips[]
- Lava Bats are three times more likely to drop this item than Hellbats, so farming for it in Hardmode is more efficient than in pre-Hardmode.
- The Magma Stone's effects stack with those of Frost armor, flasks, and the Shadowflame Knife
. - Using the Magma Stone with any yoyo
is useful for quickly mapping out underground caverns. - The Hellfire debuff is not put out by water, similar to Cursed Inferno and unlike On Fire!.
- The Magma Stone can be very useful when dealing with the Hungry. However, the Wall of Flesh itself is immune to both debuffs inflicted by the Magma Stone.
