The UI toggles for the minecart bonus (left off, right on).

The Minecart Upgrade Kit is an Expert-exclusive consumable item. When used, it permanently unlocks a boost for all minecarts, including speed increase, extra defense when moving, and a laser attack. It also gives the player a Mechanical Cart.

The Minecart bonus can be toggled via a button in the top-right corner of the Minecart slot in the equipment menu.

Notes

• The minecart boost has the following benefits:
  • The minecart's max speed is increased to 102 mph (75 tiles/second) and its acceleration is increased to 22.5 tiles/second² (31 mph/second).
  • When riding the minecart, the player gains a defense boost that gradually increases depending on the minecart's current speed: +2 at a standstill, up to +7 at top speed.
  • The minecart gains a laser attack that automatically targets all enemies within an area about 45 degrees in front of the minecart, dealing 60 base damage.

Trivia

• The minecart boost provided by the Minecart Upgrade Kit is identical to the Mechanical Cart's effects in versions between 1.3.0.1 and 1.4.3.6.
• The minecart boost will be automatically unlocked for characters that have a Mechanical Cart in their inventory or equipment slot.
