{{vandal|WINRR}} Vandalized [[Last_Prism]] article by removing all content reasoned with "TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL" comment
While held in this way, the view can be scrolled a short distance away from the character by moving the cursor. The view becomes centered not on the player, but on a point almost halfway between the player and the cursor. The [[minimap]] is also scrolled. They are a rare drop from the [[Eye of Cthulhu]].

:Most of those edits are frivolous and perhaps ill-advised, but not as overtly and deliberately disruptive as their previous block. Hello everyone. I am just here to report a strange message appearing on the [[Buggy]] page. it is in read and it says "Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "%"."
  +
If anyone can tell me what it nis and more importantly do anything about it that would be great.u
  +
Thank you [[User:Sevennationarmy]]
  +
:The cause of this problem is changes to the infoboxes. Unfortunately, I'm on a mobile device for the next while and don't have the means to fix this on every page, but I'm aware of it akd have identified the problem as best I could.
  +
:All critter pages with bait power are affected by this, because the template for "power" was used for bait ratings, with a textual indicator of "% bait power". This has since changed to explicitly refer to package power, it's original use, and returns an error if the value isn't strictly numeric. While it is possible to simply allow text to be displayed in the field similarly to item count, the most comprehensive fix would be the addition of a simila "bait" field if one does not already exist. == [[Carrot]] method ==
  +
The user {{user|Flarn2006}} has added a method to make the [[Carrot]] item (which is used to summon the collectors edition exclusive bunny pet work). While I don't know whether it is allowed here or not, the official fora disallow users from explaining how the pet can be made to work. [[User:DarknessWizard]]
  +
:I've gone ahead and removed this. For the record, the statement didn't provide a method- in order to game the system with the information given, one would have to apply knowledge learned elsewhere, and how to actually alter registry entries isn't known by the majority of users. Even so, the intent was clear. Because such a long time has passed, no action will be taken against the indicated user (at least not by me).
  +
:The question has come up lately, though, so a discussion of the appropriateness of information on game hacking is likely one that this wiki will need to have sooner or later. We may be acting in an official capacity, but we are not the forums, and we can't just blanket apply their rules to our actions and content. Moreover, people have expressed interest in having modding resources on the wiki- and if I'm not mistaken, this is partly why we include the IDs of game items and entities. Given the sensitive nature of some of this content- in some sense, having the [[Carrot]] in a vanilla game is tantamount to pirating the Collector's Edition- this is probably an important discussion to have, as well as an interesting one. [[User:Gearzein|Gearzein]] ([[User talk:Gearzein|talk]]) 18:45, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
  +
:: I would keep hacks but keep them out of mainspace. Guide pages would be fine. There's no real reason to exclude hacking info, but at the same time mainspace articles are intended to document proprietary game info alone. A simple 'see also'-type link to a guide page with hacks relevant to the article topic should be fine as it wouldn't distract much.
  +
  +
:: I'd exclude actual mod packages entirely though and restrict this allowance to tips, and to tools that can be used for "hacking" the proprietary game (eg. map viewers, inventory editors, third-party server software, etc). Downloadable software packages actually installed into the game that changes the game by altering content or the game interface (the common definition of a "game mod") is something that I think is less relevant, unless perhaps if a new namespace were set up specifically for mod info. [[User:Equazcion|<span style="color:#000080">'''Equazcion'''</span>]] <small>[[User talk:Equazcion|'''(<span style="color:#007BA7">talk</span>)''']]</small> 19:14, 16 Aug 2015 (UTC)
  +
  +
:::I'd also oppose the inclusion of mods themselves. There were some muddy thoughts in my head about this that I've since lost, but the gist is that we risk playing favorites or serving as a platform for promotion if we start showcasing third-party modifications in depth, and that's assuming that we keep them to their own pages. A wiki for an unpopular roguelike I play made the decision to prominently feature the most prominent mod's changes to vanilla content directly on the main pages, and the result was a flood of inaccurate information not too dissimilar to our own changing of crafting recipes following 1.3's release. This story was going somewhere at one point but the main thrust of my argument is that it's a bad idea.
  +
:::I am, however, reminded of a statement KM100 [[Talk:AI#Individual_pages|once made]] regarding in-depth examination of AI and other similar mechanics. Since we already place such strong emphasis on sourcing information from the code, having snippets available on subpages might not be a terrible idea, both for illustrative purposes and as a potential subset of "this is how it works under the hood" content. We might want to wait for the version to stabilize a bit before we take any measures like this, though- I've decompiled the game six times in the last month, only to have the resulting source made obsolete after a few days. ==Tax Collector trivia==

The Tax Collector seems one of two NPC with a direct link to the real world, more specifically the United Kingdom, the other being the Tax Collector, Since he mentions farthings, which are UK currencies. This makes no sense, should the first one be traveling merchant? (Found in the traveling merchant page, note section.)
  +
:Looks like someone tried to more or less copy a similar note on the Tax Collector page, but didn't really do the proofreading so well. There has been continual reversion of the DoT DPS data on the Daybreak page, likely because of a misunderstanding of the game mechanics and a failure to read. I'm not sure whether protecting it is the solution or not, but it's getting on my nerves, and it'd be nice to get it to stick for once.

:It's not a single user- multiple IPs have been confused by this. When something is this strong a point of confusion, it's best practice to try rewording it rather than just reverting it exactly. It may actually be easier to just remove the DPS information though. In its most common implementation, DPS is an unreliable weapon statistic- but here it's just basic math. In any case, protecting the page is too drastic a measure. [[User:Gearzein|Gearzein]] ([[User talk:Gearzein|talk]]) 06:49, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

:::Most of the templates have documentation on their main pages- for example, going to [[Template:Item infobox]] provides a convenient rundown of all possible fields and the information they'll accept. They're kind of an intermediate ability that have pretty strong effects on the wiki when used incorrectly, so it's not expected that a drive-by user will need or want to know how to use them, hence their exclusion from the main wiki help documentation. Many are relatively easy to suss out based either on context though- for example, if you see something like {{cc|75}}, looking at the source by using the edit button on a page where {{tl|cc}} is used reveals that you'd have to type out <nowiki>{{cc|75}}</nowiki> to reproduce it, and naturally you could replace the number with another numerical value. Most templates, even large ones like tables and infoboxes, are simple fill-in-the-blanks cases like this, and it doesn't hurt anything to look at the source, so get out there and learn something.
  +
:::All that being said, it's generally not great practice to go around adding templates like that to the tops of pages. Frankly, the wiki isn't fast enough to necessitate flagging or categorization of problem pages on that level. If a page is a stub, add the missing information- if there's not any then it's not a stub, just a short page. Similarly, adding merge or delete tags is something that needs to be done after some group deliberation, and in the few cases where it's not we'll catch it pretty quickly and knock it out. == dpl template for crafting station ==
  +
  +
Hi guys, I'm trying to get crafting stations organized via a dpl template (so you can list them using a simple dpl call rather than handcode every item manually in a list, like what's currently going on in the [[Crafting station]] article), but as I have no idea what I'm doing, the code I've tried to adapt from the Bullets dpl doesn't seem to work. See [[Bullets/dpl]] for the original, which I modified and saved as [[crafting/dpl]]. I added "listcat = crafting" to the [[Work Bench]] article, and tried to call it on my test page ([[User:Spinfx/Base_Guide]]) but as you can see the extension gives a warning (no results found). I'm probably missing something, would be great if any dpl gurus or whoever could point out what. Thanks. - [[User:Spinfx|Spinfx]] ([[User talk:Spinfx|talk]]) 09:50, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

    • Do not post deletion requests here. Add {{delete}} to the top of the target page instead. In most cases, add the delete tag, rather than replacing the entire page content with it, so that administrators can easily verify that the content was deletable.
    • Do not post issues here regarding content disputes. Try posting to the community noticeboard instead.

Vandalism reports: Posting here should be a last resort. Revert first, as anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene.

Creating a new request – vandals
    1. Edit the Vandal reports section
    2. At the top of the list, use the {{vandal|IP address or username here}} template. Provide a short and neutral summary of the issue.
Creating a new request – non-vandal cases (e.g. user issues, page protection/undeletion, etc.)
    1. Add a new section (+) to the page and enter an appropriate title (without using templates or links) in the subject field.
    2. In the edit field, enter a short and neutral summary of the issue. Use the {{user|IP address or username here}} template to refer to users involved with the case and provide links to important pages or edits.
    3. As a courtesy, also leave a message on the talk page of any involved user.

Vandal Mrgreenslime (profile • talk • contribs (deleted) • logs • block log • block) Same cause as already mentioned on July 18. Edited multiple pages adding false, duplicate or inapplicable information. Every edit was reverted to versions prior to Mrgreenslime's edits by different users. --DoubleFloat (talk) 17:36, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Most of those edits are frivolous and perhaps ill-advised, but not as overtly and deliberately disruptive as their previous block. They may be actually trying to contribute this time, so it may be best to have a word with them on their talk page rather than just blocking them again. If it keeps up after that, though, they'll be dealt with. Gearzein (talk) 18:02, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
Mrgreenslime just left a comment on my talk page matching Gearzein's opinion. Seems I may have been to hasty requesting a block by forming my opinion based on the number and frequency of the edits rather than on their content. Please remove or disable this request if it's no longer needed for documentation. --DoubleFloat (talk) 18:26, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

    Gadget of Local Time

Can anybody import at English Wiki Gadget of local time? Thanks. ← Alex Great talk 11:25, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

This seems a little frivolous since nearly all users will have their local time displayed in their devices already. I'd rather not clutter up the gadget list with things that can be there just for the hell of it... Equazcion (talk) 16:15, 14 Aug 2015 (UTC)
I do not know what you're talking about if this gadget is disabled by default. And this gadget is exist at Preferences at Wikimedia Commons. Who's supposed to, he connected. Well, then I'll add it to my personal js. ← Alex Great talk 04:37, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
Just because a gadget is optional doesn't mean including it serves a purpose. I'm not sure why Commons has it, nor what anyone would need it for. I wouldn't include it unless someone can make a good case for it being practically useful here. Equazcion (talk) 04:47, 15 Aug 2015 (UTC)

    Gadget of syntax highlighter

What about syntax highlighter at Editbox? This gadget provides highlightning of wikicode at editbox when you edit a page. ← Alex Great talk 04:47, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

The last time I tried that one it didn't perform very well, and it has a bunch of caveats. If others have experience with it and want to chime in I'd consider it. Equazcion (talk) 04:52, 15 Aug 2015 (UTC)
I have half a year working with him on Wikipedia. Only glitch is when it does not work for very long pages (this warning on the gadget page). I find it very useful and have connected it for all (non-default) at Special:Gadgets in Russian Wiki. If someone have any problems with this or other gadgets, he can always contact with administrator. In any case, I only offer useful gadgets that use myself long ago. If the gadget is not tested by me, I did not add. In addition, I will anyway use this gadget through my js. Glad to cooperate. ← Alex Great talk 05:00, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
You can also read known issues at its owner page. ← Alex Great talk 05:02, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
After testing it again I've added it to our gadgets. Thanks for the info. Equazcion (talk) 07:13, 15 Aug 2015 (UTC)
PS. I noticed that at the Russian wiki your JS code pages are displaying in a tiny font. We had this issue when Geshi was installed here. If you want to fix that, you can edit ru:MediaWiki:Geshi.css and add this:
    pre {
         font-size:14px !important;
    }

    Equazcion (talk) 07:19, 15 Aug 2015 (UTC)
✔️ Done. Thank you very much. ← Alex Great talk 12:50, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

    Strange messages

Hello everyone. I am just here to report a strange message appearing on the Buggy page. it is in read and it says "Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "%"." If anyone can tell me what it nis and more importantly do anything about it that would be great.u Thank you User:Sevennationarmy

The cause of this problem is changes to the infoboxes. Unfortunately, I'm on a mobile device for the next while and don't have the means to fix this on every page, but I'm aware of it akd have identified the problem as best I could.
All critter pages with bait power are affected by this, because the template for "power" was used for bait ratings, with a textual indicator of "% bait power". This has since changed to explicitly refer to package power, it's original use, and returns an error if the value isn't strictly numeric. While it is possible to simply allow text to be displayed in the field similarly to item count, the most comprehensive fix would be the addition of a simila "bait" field if one does not already exist. Gearzein (talk) 14:14, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

P.S. please sign posts with four tildes.

All fixed now. Thanks for letting us know about that :) Equazcion (talk) 14:32, 15 Aug 2015 (UTC)

    Carrot method

The user Flarn2006(talkcontribs (87) • logsblock log) has added a method to make the Carrot item (which is used to summon the collectors edition exclusive bunny pet work). While I don't know whether it is allowed here or not, the official fora disallow users from explaining how the pet can be made to work. User:DarknessWizard

I've gone ahead and removed this.
The question has come up lately, though, so a discussion of the appropriateness of information on game hacking is likely one that this wiki will need to have sooner or later. We may be acting in an official capacity, but we are not the forums, and we can't just blanket apply their rules to our actions and content. Moreover, people have expressed interest in having modding resources on the wiki- and if I'm not mistaken, this is partly why we include the IDs of game items and entities. Given the sensitive nature of some of this content- in some sense, having the Carrot in a vanilla game is tantamount to pirating the Collector's Edition- this is probably an important discussion to have, as well as an interesting one. Gearzein (talk) 18:45, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
I would keep hacks but keep them out of mainspace. Guide pages would be fine. There's no real reason to exclude hacking info, but at the same time mainspace articles are intended to document proprietary game info alone. A simple 'see also'-type link to a guide page with hacks relevant to the article topic should be fine as it wouldn't distract much.
I'd exclude actual mod packages entirely though and restrict this allowance to tips, and to tools that can be used for "hacking" the proprietary game (eg. map viewers, inventory editors, third-party server software, etc). Downloadable software packages actually installed into the game that changes the game by altering content or the game interface (the common definition of a "game mod") is something that I think is less relevant, unless perhaps if a new namespace were set up specifically for mod info. Equazcion (talk) 19:14, 16 Aug 2015 (UTC)
I'd also oppose the inclusion of mods themselves.
I am, however, reminded of a statement KM100 once made regarding in-depth examination of AI and other similar mechanics. Terraria Wiki:Directors

I think we can add same page of directors. This page is provide contacts in base wiki (English) for all current active admin staff in language sections of this project. This page also linked in sidebar of Minecraft Wiki (en). ← Alex Great talk 06:08, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

I got something started at Terraria Wiki:Directors. For reference, at any language wiki, Special:ListAllUsers?username=&group=sysop should list admins. Equazcion (talk) 07:34, 18 Aug 2015 (UTC)

    Tax Collector trivia

The Tax Collector seems one of two NPC with a direct link to the real world, more specifically the United Kingdom, the other being the Tax Collector, Since he mentions farthings, which are UK currencies. This makes no sense, should the first one be traveling merchant? (Found in the traveling merchant page, note section.)

Looks like someone tried to more or less copy a similar note on the Tax Collector page, but didn't really do the proofreading so well. The statement isn't entirely true anyway, as lots of NPCs mention or even sell stuff that exists in reality, so I've removed it. Gearzein (talk) 21:10, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

    Protect the Daybreak page?

There has been continual reversion of the DoT DPS data on the Daybreak page, likely because of a misunderstanding of the game mechanics and a failure to read. I'm not sure whether protecting it is the solution or not, but it's getting on my nerves, and it'd be nice to get it to stick for once.

    DemiserofD (talk) 05:04, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

It's not a single user- multiple IPs have been confused by this. Gearzein (talk) 06:49, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

help page could be more helpful

well, i'm fairly new here, and i still remember how much trouble i had learning how to tag and what they ment, the redirect to wikipedia was both vauge and inacurate for this wiki. i'd like to suggest adding a link to a how-to for tagging in gamepedia, and what the tags mean, in the new user page. FinaLemon 20:44, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

Considering your contributions I assume with tagging you mean adding a template to a page? In Category:Things to do a list of categories can be found that you properly want to add to a page. Each category also explains what template to add on a page to add it to that category. Also it is required that your signature links to your user page and talk page. Please make sure that it does. --0icke0 (talk) 10:54, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
ah, ok. makes sense then. p.s. i figured that was automatic, i'll get on it! FinaLemon 23:47, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
there, i think it should be working now! also, i forgot my signature on my last thing, fixed it! FinaLemon 23:47, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
wait, no. my computer's being dumb... now it should work! FinaLemon 23:51, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
um,i decided to go check and see if there were any that i missed, and all that it showed me were unused and unfiled templates. i'm talking about things like the merge or stub things that go at the top of a problem page... although knowing other things like the templates i'm seeing [coins, armor icons, etc.] would be handy to know, too. FinaLemon 00:35, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Most of the templates have documentation on their main pages- for example, going to Template:Item infobox provides a convenient rundown of all possible fields and the information they'll accept. They're kind of an intermediate ability that have pretty strong effects on the wiki when used incorrectly, so it's not expected that a drive-by user will need or want to know how to use them, hence their exclusion from the main wiki help documentation. Many are relatively easy to suss out based either on context though- for example, if you see something like 75, looking at the source by using the edit button on a page where {{cc}} is used reveals that you'd have to type out {{cc|75}} to reproduce it, and naturally you could replace the number with another numerical value. Most templates, even large ones like tables and infoboxes, are simple fill-in-the-blanks cases like this, and it doesn't hurt anything to look at the source, so get out there and learn something.
All that being said, it's generally not great practice to go around adding templates like that to the tops of pages. Gearzein (talk) 02:09, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
ok, thanks. FinaLemon 02:32, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

    open candy alert

uh, you guys know you have a very obvious open candy here, right? i first noticed it on the "mythril wall" page, and has been popping up infreqeuntly in the ad boxes ever since. it says "you have 1 message waiting for you", or something like that, with an "ok" button, then quivers, demanding attention. i'm not clicking on it to find out what it does, and i confirmed that it isn't my computer. can someone look into that to prevent security issues? FinaLemon 00:44, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

The admins don't have any say in what ads are run here. You'd have to talk to a member of the Curse staff about that. Gearzein (talk) 02:09, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
ok. i'll let them know if i see any. i just kinda figured most of the admins were staff, that's all. FinaLemon 02:34, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

    dpl template for crafting station

Hi guys, I'm trying to get crafting stations organized via a dpl template (so you can list them using a simple dpl call rather than handcode every item manually in a list, like what's currently going on in the Crafting station article), but as I have no idea what I'm doing, the code I've tried to adapt from the Bullets dpl doesn't seem to work. See Bullets/dpl for the original, which I modified and saved as crafting/dpl. I added "listcat = crafting" to the Work Bench article, and tried to call it on my test page (User:Spinfx/Base_Guide) but as you can see the extension gives a warning (no results found). I'm probably missing something, would be great if any dpl gurus or whoever could point out what. Thanks. - Spinfx (talk) 09:50, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

See Terraria Wiki:Sandbox for an example. --0icke0 (talk) 10:09, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Apparently I was missing a keyword in the dpl call ("Crafting station items", rather than just "Crafting station"). Neat. Gotta figure out why though, I see nothing in e.g. Work Bench that says Crafting station item and not just Crafting station. Oh well. Thanks. - Spinfx (talk) 10:54, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
