The Rockfish is a hammer that can be fished from the underground layer but is more likely to be caught in the cavern layer, within any biome. Its hammer power is equal to that of the Molten Hamaxe.

Its best modifier is Legendary. While Light may seem to provide a better speed boost by percentages, rounding reveals that Legendary and Light mine at equal speeds for this tool.

Tips

• Despite being a hammer, the Rockfish is a very good weapon for new players. It is easy to obtain and has very high damage relative to most early-game weapons; even higher than a Blood Butcherer.
• Although the Rockfish shares the spot of best Pre-Hardmode hammer with the Molten Hamaxe, the latter is an ideal tool later on due to its dual functionality as an axe.

Trivia

• There are three fish tools that can be obtained through fishing: the Sawtooth Shark (a chainsaw), the Reaver Shark (a pickaxe), and the Rockfish.
