Use your gravitation potion and fly to the top of the map as soon as you summoned them and fire your crystal storm downwards. When you hit the top, one eye might be gone because you got too far away from it so it despawns, making the fight MUCH easier. When you do hit the top just keep flying away from them to either side of the map and keep spraying with the crystal storm until he dies. That's why I said to do it on a non-hardmode world, so Wyverns dont spawn and muck up the fight. Harpies are not a bother, as their feathers will hit you and that could stop a laser or flame from hurting you.

Tactics

When fighting The Twins, it is perhaps best to focus on taking one down as quickly as possible rather than spreading damage between them. Each part has its own life gauge and eliminating one makes killing the other much easier.

A good strategy is to get Retinazer down to around 14000 or 13000 hp, before killing Spazmatism, as this way you will only have to fight Retinazer down from half hp after the difficult battle with Spazmatism's second form. Switching which you kill first may work as well.

Spazmatism is probably the easiest to kill first as it chases the player at the same level. Retinazer chases the player above the player, necessitating leading adjustments if using ranged weapons (which you'll probably use as both hit for significant damage in melee.) Just aim parallel to the ground and you can easily pump Spazmatism with arrows or shots.

However, even though Spazmatism is easier to hit initially, his second form may be harder to fight for some due to its constant chasing of the players with both it's flamethrower-like attack and its charging attack which is the most damaging move The Twins have. As such, choosing to eliminate Retinazer first may prove to be the more beneficial option as one may have an easier time avoiding Spazmatism's later attacks if Retinazer is already gone.

In either case, whichever a player decides to eliminate first, it pays to make sure damage is concentrated on one of the bosses as much as possible. Avoid doing damage to both to the point that both transform into their second phases. Killing one is much easier when only one is in it's second mode and the other is still in its first form. The first forms are more predictable and tame compared to the second forms.

A wide-open, flat area is recommended for the fight for ease of evasion. If the ground is level enough to run across, it's possible to just kite the bosses with bow-/gunfire by running and simply shooting them as they give chase. Mobility is key.

Note that once one of them is killed, regular mobs can now spawn during the fight with the other half. This may include Wyverns if you're using Gravity Potions. An easy way to avoid this problem is to bring the mechanical eye to a world that does not yet have hardmode enabled, reducing the risk of being attacked by mobs during the fight.

If you attempt to use a magic mirror to get back to your spawn, the Twins will disappear with no message.

Equipment

If possible, a Megashark with Crystal Bullets make this a much easier fight, because of the high rate of fire, splash damage, and the fact that the twins have a relatively low defense in their first form. if possible bring along a ranged-type armor set. You need to kill The Destroyer first in order to craft the Megashark, however.

A Shotgun isn't advisable due to the refire rate being so slow and that in order to maximize damage, you need to be right next to enemies to ensure many bullets in the spread hit. A Clockwork Assault Rifle may work as it's comparable to the Megashark and possible to get sooner via Wall of Flesh farming. (You trade some power and overall damage over time for endurance, as you get 3 times the ammo usage, guaranteed. This compared to the Megashark slightly higher damage, faster firing rate, but only effective doubling of ammo with its 50% chance to not use ammo.)

Rocket Boots, Spectre Boots, Angel Wings and/or Demon Wings are recommended for increased mobility. If no Angel/Demon Wings are available, be sure to equip a Lucky Horseshoe or an Obsidian Horseshoe, or quaff a Featherfall Potion to negate fall damage from the heights you can reach. If you have the time to farm some mimics a Cross Necklace and a Philosopher's Stone are also excellent choices.

If farming the Wall of Flesh, a Ranger Emblem helps speed up the process of whittling away their health with its +15% ranged damage bonus.

If money is no problem and a player has rescued the Goblin Tinkerer, upgraded accessories and weapons can help immensely. Cost can be relatively cheap or expensive, depending on the item being upgraded and some luck. Increased movement speed or damage bonuses on accessories are perhaps the best. Speed eases evasion while damage allows faster kills. (Up to +20% bonus if all five accessories have bonuses of +4% of the same type.)

Black Guy's strategy

If you're going to do this you will need to fight them in a large map that isn't in hardmode (you can summon hardmode bosses in a non hardmode world).

Armor: Adamantite Helmet, Hallowed Plate Mail (if you have not defeated The Destroyer use Adamantite breastplate instead), Adamantite pants.

Accessories: Cross Necklace, Obsidian Shield, Obsidian Horseshoe, Sorcerer Emblem and Mana Potions (really needed, bring 4 99 stacks of greater mana potions). All accessories need to have warding for an extra 20 defence with my armour equals 76 defence.

A recommended collection of potions for this fight.

1. Gravitation Potion. The best way to avoid death.

2. Bowl of Soup Increases your defence and damage for ten minutes.

3. Ironskin Potion Increases your defence by 8.

4. Hunter Potion You need to see them as it will be night.

5. Magic Power Potion. Really needed for magic damage.

6. Featherfall Potion. Helps controlling the Gravitation potion.

Also, use the crystal ball and bring more than one potion each as the fight will last longer than their duration!

Use a crystal storm, with or without a reforge.

The battle

Use your gravitation potion and fly to the top of the map as soon as you summoned them and fire your crystal storm downwards. When you hit the top, one eye might be gone because you got too far away from it so it despawns, making the fight MUCH easier. When you do hit the top just keep flying away from them to either side of the map and keep spraying with the crystal storm until he dies. That's why I said to do it on a non-hardmode world(How the hell is that even possible?, so Wyverns dont spawn and muck up the fight. Harpies are not a bother, as their feathers will hit you and that could stop a laser or flame from hurting you.

My tactic is for people who dont want to waste time building an arena, low preparation, BIG WINS!!!!!!

dart193's strategy

Build a platform 1000 blocks long (4 stacks of dirt is what you need). Gather Adamantite armor. Have as much defense in accessories as possible.

Now the most important - potions.

1. Ironskin Potion. The more defense the better.

2. Swiftness Potion. Highly recommended, a must if no hermes boots.

3. Regeneration Potion. Lasers and cursed flames are not that hard to avoid, but when Retinazer enters the second phase, you will receive a lot of damage, so your health must be replenished.

4. Gravitation Potion. Spazmatizm will move much faster than you when charging at you in second phase. It renders dodging almost impossible without flying. However, if you have wings, then this potion is not that useful.

The weapon I chose was megashark and crystal bullets. You will be running a lot and avoiding shots, so no time for aiming. Crystal bullets will deal massive damage when the eye charges, as it will charge into every shard.

The battle

Start running as soon as possible. Then run left, right, left right on your platform. This will negate their charges as they are just slightly faster than you so you should be far away when they charge at you. Concentrate fire on the Retinazer. There are two reasons: first one is that his lazers are harder to avoid than flames, second - the second phase of Spazmatizm is dodging most the time so you will want to have less obstacles including the Retinazer.

Killing the Retinazer is not hard, even when he changes to the second phase. Just jump a lot, or fly.

When done with Retinazer, shoot Spazmatizm. When he goes second phase... well, you die, if you are not prepared. He will do a line of flames so long that you have to keep it almost out of screen. When he charges, he is ... 3-4 times faster than you. So you have to fly or jump a lot. BUT when he is flamethrowing, he is slower than you, so the strategy is: shoot him when he is shooting you, avoid him when he is charging you.

The battle is not that hard even with no big defense, you only need to fly a lot.

Small advice: if you are running low on HP, try to get to the Nurse and heal. This saved me a lot.

Necrodoom's strategy

While at first the bosses may seem scary and hard, some few preparations will make them easy. Spazmatizm is the melee and cursed flame eye, while Retinazer is the laser eye. The thing that makes this boss so predictable is that Spazmatizm stays on the X axis, while retinazer stays on Y axis, which means you can easily block an axis and you can solo each eye at a time.

The Arena

A long section of 2 rows of wood platforms, and a ceiling, and a small pit section, 50 blocks wide.

Items To Take

The eyes are very fast, so Hermes boots along with swiftness potions are needed to outrun them so you wont take damage. Take your ranged weapon of choice to fight the eyes.I would recommend the megahark along with crystal bullets.

The Battle

Right as the battle starts, run along the long platform and shoot Spazmatism, drop and jump on the 2 platforms to avoid the missles. Retinazer will harmlessly attempt to fire at you, but the ceiling will block it. When they charge toward you, use your swiftness potion and keep running and shooting along the platform. When Spazmatism changes form, keep the swiftness effect on at all times so you can outrun Spazmatizm while he shoots you. Once he goes down, drop into the pit section so retinazer goes though the ceiling, and run back and forth on the floor, shooting him. Even when he goes second form he shouldnt be able to hit you unless he charges at you while you are at a corner if you keep drinking swiftness potions, so you pretty much won at this point.

Icke's strategy

Why bother making a huge fighting arena if the best arena is already there: the sky. This strategy will let you kill the twins with medium level equipment.

The Arena

The fastest way to change height is by falling, so the arena will be the sky. Also while you are running away from those eyes you don't want to turn around because you reached the end of the arena. Therefore make a large map for the fighting arena. It is possible with a small/medium map too, but you have to be careful not to get too high, because at the top of the map you will fall slower, making it impossible to evade attacks.

Equipment

  • Armor: Of course you should take the best armor you can get, but if you have some good defense accessories molten armor should do. If you use cobalt armor take the helmet and for adamantite or better helmet and mask are both fine.
  • Accessories: As you will use gravitation potions items like wings/rocket boots/shiny red balloon/cloud in a bottle aren't needed. You may want to equip a lucky horse shoe, to make sure you don't suddenly hit a floating island causing you to die. An obsidian shield/cobalt shield is needed and a ranger emblem is going to help a lot in case of low level armor. Aside from that take an aglet/anklet of the wind for extra speed and fill the remaining accessory slots with defense increasing accessories.
  • Potions: Iron skin is a must have when you use low level armor and could prove useful for higher level armor as well. Regeneration potions and (greater) healing potions are needed to keep you healthy. As the whole idea is not to get hit a swiftness potion is a must have and last of all enough gravitation potions to stay in the air all night.
  • Weapon: a starcannon could be easy, but it will require a lot of stars. Therefore a clockwork assault rifle may be a better choice, as it will do enough damage as well. As bullets you should take crystal bullets(3 stacks should be enough if you can aim well.)

The Fight

It will probably only take half the night to kill the twins, but nevertheless you should start the fight at dusk. Start by drinking all potions and get up in the air and summon the twins. The best way is not to turn around, so just keep flying in one direction for the whole fight. Also make sure you don't go to high, as the low gravity will make it impossible to evade the incoming attacks. Focus all fire on Retinazer so that he dies before Spazmatism goes to his second form.

Krazl's Melee Method

Requirements: Light Disc x5, Adamantite Armor, Band of Regeneration, Cross Necklace, Regeneration Potion(s), Ironskin Potion(s), Meteorite, Hellstone or Hellstone Brick x100ish

Optional: Star Cloak, Spectre Boots, Angel Wings, Health Potion(s), Bowl of Soup, other defensive accessories

Step 1: Prepare for battle!

Create a single line bridge of meteorite preferably 100ish or more blocks long. If preferred wall off the edges and place doors at the bottom. This arena will be used for all of the hardmode bosses. Using Hellstone would be a better choice as it doesn't create a Meteorite Biome. As so, you would not be disturbed by Meteor Head. Hellstone Brick have the same effect as Hellstone but it can be faster and easier to get as you can directly take it from some Underworld's structures.

Step 2: Fighting like a man... with a brain.

Instead of flying around with antigravity potions and using ranged weapons like some elf, make sure you do not have an obsidian skull/shield/horseshoe equipped. As such you will constantly be taking 1 damage from standing on the meteorite floor and will be invincible for most of the fight. This will also proc the Star Cloak if you have it equipped. I personally focus on Spazmatism first. I highly recommend Hermes/Spectre Boots for this fight as though the meteorite damage takes priority over the flames and lazers from the twins often, they will still sometimes collide with you and do more damage. Simply walking left/right on your platform at the correct time during invincibility to avoid boss collision while pelting them with Light Discs should seal the deal on this fight. It's not worth jumping to avoid anything just take as much damage from meteorite as possible instead of boss collision. You can stand in the flame from Spazmatism's second form but you will only get hit by the meteorite.

Longbow73's Strategy

This is a strategy designed for players who are fighting The Twins as their first Hardmode boss.

Equipment: Spectre Boots, Phoenix Blaster (or Adamantite Repeater, preferably reforged), Crystal Bullet (or Cursed Arrows) (bring LOTS either way). Cloud in a Balloon helps and is enormously recommended, but it's not a necessity. Angel or Demon Wings or with some kind of Horseshoe may help, if you tend to take fall damage. If you use wings, make sure you still have the boots! They are mostly for the Hermes Boots effect. You can also use a Grappling Hook, but an Ivy Whip is recommended for its longer reach. Armor is not required, assuming you can dodge their attacks all the time. Regeneration and Ironskin potions help enormously.

Stage/Terrain Requirements: A VERY VERY long flat space. If you have a skybridge, use it!

Strategy: Run along the skybridge. Yes there are ends, and no, you are not going to beat them before you reach one end, so, here's the general strategy. When you near one end of the skybridge, make sure they are both charging at you, then use the wings/boots to jump way over them and grapple to the ground. Jump before you stop so you kick-start your boots. This way, you can continuously spam the Phoenix Blaster at the two eyes until they are both dead. Personally, I would start with Spazmatism. His second form is much more dangerous than Retinazer's, and in both of his forms he is considerably easier to hit because he always hovers to your side. Jump to dodge his charging attacks, which are insanely fast and do considerable damage. Assuming you have at least Mythril Armor (use the helmet!) and Warding Accessories along with an Ironskin Potion, his lasers, even in his second form, will do almost no damage, and the Regeneration should sort that out. Just shoot'em 'till they're dead. With this strategy they are almost no trouble at all, it just takes time. Your finger will probably get tired of clicking. For those who have beaten the Destroyer first, having a Megashark will really give things a boost. It'll fire much more rapidly for the same damage.

Mr. Cool's magic strategy

Equipment: a crystal storm, adamantite armor with magic helmet, gravitation potion x3, ironskin potion x2,
sorcerers emblem, all accesories upgraded to menacing,x99 greater mana potions.

Arena: Create a large world. This will make dodging attacks without having to turn around at the end.

Strategy: Start by drinking your potions and summoning the twins. Then, fly towards one direction while using the crystal storm non-stop. Aim more for Spazmatism, because he is faster. After Spazmatism dies, try to fly more towards the top of the world to avoid getting hit. Note that after Spazmatism dies, you can trap yourself in a box and take out one block. Retinazer will not charge or attack you with his lasers. I recommend making the magic harp to beat the destroyer using Krazl's method.

KTG: Use Grav, megashark + crystal bullets, ironskin, adamantite (mask or helmet), and you shoul be fine, as long as you start @ dsk and bring about 1000 - 1250 ammo

Drepic26's Strategy

Things needed: small house which you can get put of easily, a nurse, your weapons of choice, a magic mirror, and a friend.

Strategy: 1) make sure your spawn is set in the house with the nurse. 2) spawn the twins and lure them away from the house with our friend. 3) when one of you gets low on health, magic mirror to the house, heal, and run back to the fight. This wil give you a few seconds of peace while you fully heal. When you get back, let your friend heal then keep repeating this pattern.

Tips: Don't go too far from the house with the fight, just off-screen is fine. If you go too far and one of you does, the twins will despawn.

Mathgeek's Strategy

The worst items you could use safely are:

1) Gravitation Potion 2) Mythril Armor 3) Minishark 4) Normal Musket Shots 5) Cross Necklace 6) [OPTIONAL] Star Cloak 7) [OPTIONAL] Star Cannon

The Gravitation potion helps you evade the attacks, the mythril armor gives just enough defense to play it safe. Any fast-firing gun works, Minishark is fine. Musket shots are no deal, just have a lot. The Cross Necklace will minimize the damage you are being hit by. The Star Cloak may deal some extra damage in conjunction with the CN. Upgrade the items, but these are the bare nessecities to beating them the first time.

NOTE: If you are a REALLY experienced player, try it with less stuff. Try all Pre-1.1 items. It has never been done on film.

Masterluigi452's Strategy

This is my easiest way to defeat The Twins using ranged weapons and without using Gravity Potions. All you need is these:

  1. Hellstone Brick.
  2. Any kind of Armor(Strongest is still recommended just in case).
  3. Megashark.
  4. 1000 Crystal Bullets.
  5. Cross Necklace.
  6. Any kind of Hook items.
  7. Any other Accessories to boost your range attacks.
  8. Few Greater Potions + Ironskin Potions + Bowl of Soup.

Now you may ask, why do I need Hellstone Brick? Simple. By standing on Hellstone Brick without any accessories that blocks Hellstone Brick damage, you recieve one damage. So, by abusing this hit stun from Hellstone Brick, you do not recieve the damage from The Twins most of the time!

Set up:

  1. Place Hellstone Brick in mid air to prevent any other ground monsters hurting you during the fight.
  2. Stand on top of the Hellstone Brick and use your hook to attach yourself. This is to prevent any knockbacks from The Twins if they somehow hit you.
  3. Drink the buff potions you have brought and summon the Twins.

That's it! From this point on, have fun practicing your aim without any worries whatsoever. Don't forget to drink your Greater Potion if your health is getting low. If you reforge your equipments for better stats, you can finish the fight easily and much quicker. With this strategy, you can kill The Twins 4 times before the night is over!
