The Chest Statue is one of 83 Statues. It can be found randomly in underground caverns, and may be harvested with a pickaxe. When activated, it spawns a Mimic. It will spawn gold chest mimics underground and shadow chest mimics in The Underworld.

Unlike naturally spawned mimics, mimics spawned with the statue do not drop any items or coins, however they can drop Mimic Banners.

Notes

• Pre-Hardmode players should beware, as Mimics are able to spawn from the statue even if the world is not Hardmode. They're designed for Hardmode players and will do devastating damage. An enclosed box around the statue with a lava trap is highly recommended.
• The Chest Statue, when powered, will spawn Mimics even before Hardmode is activated.
• This is one of the two only statues that spawn enemies with more than 100 HP (the other being the Shark Statue), which makes it suitable for farming Ectoplasm. A simple machine with a timer hooked up to the chest statue that has been placed in a very small pit of lava, is an effortless way to farm Ectoplasm.
• When not using a machine, you should be careful when battling Mimics because they deal at least 80 damage and could easily destroy players with even Hallowed armor.
