Falling Blocks[]

  • The Digging Molecart will dig falling blocks in the falling state. Mining the blocks with a pickaxe or drill while riding will allow The Digging Molecart to get under the falling blocks. The falling blocks will inflict damage and be collected.
This is somewhat correct and somewhat false.
Yes, while using a pickaxe the Digging Molecart will drive below the falling blocks, but it will not place a minecart track, as such it will stop after about 2 blocks, as it stranded on the ground.5.146.193.211 18:41, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
After spending 3 hours using the digging molecart in 1.4.2.2 (multiplayer), it seems that the molecart is able to place track "under" falling sand/silt etc, and if the sand hits the track it permanently breaks it where it can be collected. It seemed to work most of the time but not all of the time. I believe it has to do with the distance the sand falls - in that the minecart will only check to see if it can place periodically and if the sand hits the ground before it checks, then the check will fail (I assume lag could affect this). The minecart digs a 5 tile tall shaft, and the tile above the shaft can be sand without issue and since the cart digs and places at the same time it will break all the sand above the shaft. I never was able to "coast" on my momentum and had to continuously hold down movement. Sraw (talk) 09:18, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Making a long track automatically ?[]

"Because the cart keeps all of its momentum, the player can leave the game running to make a very long track automatically. This can help immensely with moving around the world."

Has anyone been able to confirm this ? Having tried, it doesn't seem like the Digging Molecart is able to mine blocks or even place tracks when the key is not pressed. If it comes into contact with a wall or the end of a track after running by itself, it just stops completely.

I'm really not sure if I should be the one removing the line, I could just be doing it wrong or something, so it would be great if a more experienced player could take a look.

Response to above (Is this how I use pages like these?[]

I wrote that, and now that I'm remembering... I think you do have to hold down a button for it to dig. It's still useful, of course, but you might need a paperweight.
