The info on prefixes is all already on the Reforge page, so I'm removing it from the notes here. GenericPseudonym 22:21, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

The Megashark is overpowered[]

Prefixes not taken into consideration, the base Megashark has a DPS of 300, using only Musket Balls as ammo.

The Star Cannon, for comparison sake, has a DPS of 300 as well.

Megashark basically has the highest DPS in the game, bar none. It's that broken.

But the low damage causes the monsters defense to cancel a lot of its damage, making it a strong (hard to get, so it should be) but not overpowered weapon. --Icke 10:06, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Stacking Effects with Hallowed Helmet?[]

Do we know what the overall effect of stacking the set bonus from the Helmet from the Hallowed Armor set? (25% less ammo use) Is it linear (50% + 25% == 75%) or multiplicative (50% * 1.25 == 62.5%) or just the value of the highest contributor? Xirema 07:47, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

There is a separate check for each ammo reducing item you have, so it's multiplicative. If you have both a 50% less ammo item and a 25% less ammo item, you'd have a 62.5% chance of not using any ammo. --GauHelldragon 07:42, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
In that case, I'll put that in the article. Xirema 07:47, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

star cannon mentioned vs. mega shark + wOf[]

the wall of flesh seems easier with an "unreal megashark" than it does a star cannon, is it becuase star cannon ammo phases through making it miss? or is it a player using msuket balls that dont phase.... or is an unreal megashark really that good? please arify and compare the megashark and star cannon during the WoF fights. HERO or Ymnir could upload a request from the wiki on that, then you could look for the title "negsahrk versus WoF" becuase i see the megashark as way more powerful than the star cannon for many reasons. --Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.185.215.123 (talkcontribs)

It is likely the star cannon is mentioned since that is the strongest weapon you'll have before hard mode. --JonTheMon 17:45, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Guys megashark is better than star cannon[]

Star cannon does not fire as fast as megashark so its not as good

Dude. What has higher attack then? Speed is not everything. I've used hacks and hacked in both and star cannon is better. it's just that stars are so hard to get.
Could also have something to do with star cannons UNLIMITED piercing, proper aiming can give you 30+ hits against the destroyer with 1 star

That would technically mean that copper short sword is better than night's edge cause it swings faster but no night's edge does way more damage and so does star cannon over Megashark.

Ammo use chance[]

in the note, we can find: <<In the PC version, when used with a Shroomite Breastplate, it has a 70% chance not to use ammo.>> But i just read that the chances where not adition ¨100-50-20 = 70%not use¨ but multiplicative ¨(100-50)-20% = 50-10 or (100-20)-50% = 80-40 = 60%not use¨

It is somewhat important to know which one is true because if we add the chlorophite helmet we get either: only 10% ammo consummed or 32%

So is it aditionnative or multiplicative ? (and are my 9 years old level math true ?)thx.

The ammo use chance is additive, not multiplicative, despite what it says above. It's kinda like with crit chance- adding % adds to the weapon's %, not multiplies it. Otherwise with weapons that don't have less ammo use chance, you'd actually get 0% not-use-ammo chance- because no matter what, if you multiply by zero, you will always get 0. But if you pay attention you'll notice items like the Magic Quiver and ranged armors actually add less ammo use chance for weapons without it- and no arrow-, rocket-, or star-based ranged weapon has a "don't use ammo" chance. It's only certain bullet-based weapons and the Candy Corn Rifle. Henix Aurorus (Henix879) (talk) 15:46, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Chance is multiplicative (confirmed by source code). First it checks if you don't consume ammo due to your weapon (in this case 50%). In case you now still consume ammo the next check is if you wear armor reducing ammo usage by 20% (in this case Shroomite Breastplate) to see if you consume ammo. If you still consume ammo another check is made for armor reducing ammo usage by 25% (in this case none). This results in a 50%+50%*20%=60% chance not to consume ammo. --0icke0 (talk) 17:12, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Modifier[]

Most pages describe a "best modifier" for weapons, why not this one? There isn't a "best modifier" described for the minishark either.

It is unreal like most other guns. Also the "best modifier" described is in the tips of the page.

Highest chance not to consume ammo[]

Would a Megashark with Shroomite breastplate and Chlorophyte helmet along with ammo reservation potion and ammo box be the highest chance not to consume ammo?. If it isn't, what would be?

Crafting in 1.3[]

Did they change the recipe or am I an idiot? Can't seem to craft it with the ingredients in front of an Orichalcum Anvil... 134.76.63.1 15:55, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
