Flamethrower[]

Attacking from the right angle, I managed to deal noticeably more damage per second with a flamethrower than a megashark + cursed bullets. I'd strongly advise using a flamethrower against it sometime; the damage is insane. PlagueOfCats 13:39, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Personally, either high damage sword... or chainsaw - it damages it very fast. And of course adamantite armor + 16 defence from accessoires + iron skin potion. I then just standing in it's body receiving 1 damage every damage tick so lasers or probes dont hurt me. To replenish health i use greater healing potion kill probes as they always give a heart. --Dart193 22:46, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
.destroyer spawns at any night in hard mode ones u spawn it with the spawner — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.48.15.86 at 19:30, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

Summoning on Corruption[]

Exactly WHY is it "recommended" that the boss is summoned in the corruption? Since it can be summoned anywhere, wouldn't you want to fight the boss in an area with the least dangerous mobs? --GauHelldragon 20:21, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

In corruption he never despawns so you have unlimited time to beat him. --Sergiusalceanu 19:57, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
This is entirely untrue. This is only true for the eater of worlds, but the destroyer follows the rules of most other bosses and runs away at daybreak. 216.232.137.221 23:28, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Little video for Sorcerers[]

i'm suggesting a tutorial to defeat them with the Magical Harp, it's insanely efficient.

Easiest? I don't get it... my personal opinion on Destroyer.[]

Honestly, I just don't think this is the easiest of bosses. Probably middle, or hard. This has provided most of a challenge for me than The Twins, and even Skeletron Prime. I've died about 13 times, and won 0. But with the Twins, I've died about 6 times, and won 3. I was using Crystal Storm, and just about every buff needed. (also grav potion) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.196.96.220 at 23:53, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

Maybe you should try a different boss area. Unlike most bosses that require a large open area, its best to have a smaller area with multiple vertical walls. That way you can still move around somewhat, while the walls block almost all of the lasers fired. Also for an easier battle you may want to try this method or check out other strategies on that page. --Icke 11:16, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
It is slightly easier, mostly due to the heart drops from the probes. As long as you have some space to stand on (like wooden platforms on top or something), it becomes easier, especially with a weapon that hits multiple pieces at once. Just make sure you have enough reach to destroy the probes as well so your health stays up. --Heireau (talk) 19:16, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
I think the Destroyer is easy! I beat him first try Ejdeibert (talk) 17:19, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
Update: Skeletron Prime easiest, the Destroyer middle twins hardest. Ejdeibert (talk) 14:17, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
Twins looks easy when u watch someone do it, same with destroyer, but they both hard. I tried Skeletron Prime but he killed me Casetable52783 (talk) 21:51, 24 October 2018 (UTC)
Here's what I found on the steam forums, if that helps: "The destroyer is incredibly easy if you're smart about it. You can literally stand still and kill him with nothing more than a waterbolt and a nimbus rod. All you have to do is build yourself a small box (perhaps no more than 8-10 blocks wide) high enough above the ground where the destroyer cannot physically reach you. The walls of the box will prevent lasers from hitting you. At the bottom of the box you'll need a small gap to fire nimbus clouds and waterbolts through.
That's pretty much it. You simply stand there and shoot down. The only thing you need to worry about are the laser spheres coming in through the walls of your box. When they do, they are easily defeated with a sword." I hope that helps! 73.9.15.157 18:31, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

1.2[]

Today I've just got the mechanical worm by killing one monster in hallow. And when I killed The Destroyer he dropped 2 fast clocks and 2 Mechanical Skulls. I didn't find any hallow ore :( Also he had 40k or 60k Thatguywithoutglases (talk) 16:10, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

My Experience[]

I just fought the destroyer and killed him with melee. I don't know if this is supposed to be another part of his drops according to randomization but I got about 30 Hallowed bars and 30ish on the Souls of Might as well. Apparently Hallowed bars is all thats needed to make the armors and weapons now since alot of the crafting materials is switched up too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.44.164.116 at 18:45, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Just to add i am on a mobile device and i have destroyed the destroyer twice and he has not dropped anything — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.66.67.95 at 16:29, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

Very Outdated Information[]

The information about the destroyer's attack values, and likely many other hidden values, are outdated. I did a bit of checking, as i noticed that according to the wiki's values i should be taking 1 or 2 damage from his lasers with 40 defense, but i am instead taking 20 to 30. His attack values have changed and likely his defense values. New testing must be done, I'll do what I can but there also seems to be a random factor in the damage that's done past just critical hits. Edit: On further study it was updated to a degree, but not all the way. It might be that the only incorrect value is the laser damage, but the laser damage is definitely an incorrect value currently.Daman4567 (talk) 17:36, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

There is also inconsistency between the Hallowed Bar drops here and on the Hallowed Bar page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leopardheart982 (talkcontribs) at 23:48, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

stats based on version[]

I made a bit of an edit to this page, terraria is on 1.2.4 so it has the buffed destroyer, but console in terms of content is still on 1.2.1.2 so they still have the weak 1.2 destroyer with 60k health. Also mobile is still on 1.1 so they should have the 1.1 destoryer(right?). Tell me what you think of the edit. WelchDrew (talk) 15:25, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

Failure to Spawn[]

I got the message about deep vibrations, but morning came and The destroyer never spawned. Wonder if it had to do with the fact that the message showed up while I was in the Lizhard Temple thanks to my Discord Rod. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FeralGTx0 (talkcontribs) at 05:23, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

The mechanical bosses will not spawn if you are underground for the night, so, yes, if you were in the temple for the entire night, this is why he didn't spawn. LuckyMax5 (talk) 05:27, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
I was underground when the message appeared (mining Titanium) and then I died from a Black Recluse (that I didn't see) and The Destroyed never spawned... Maybe if you die when a mechanical boss is "attempting" to spawn it'll cancel it? PS: It was a blood moon... if that even matters... DaniPaunov (talk) 21:35, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

I got mechanical skull![]

I got a mechanical skull once when killing the destroyer. I am on the mobile version. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.22.137.181 at 19:42, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

Any enemy, including bosses, has like a 1/200 chance of dropping a mech boss summoner if you are in Hardmode and haven't beaten the respective boss yet. Example: you haven't beaten the twins yet, so a Pixie or something could drop a mechanical eye. Anonymous132547698 (talk) 17:38, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

How to kill?[]

Whenever I summon him he kills me instantly but I use greater healing potions, titanium armor, titanium trident, godly cutlass, godly magic knifes, and a spider staff as well as dodging and killing probes but I always die. What am I doing wrong Casetable52783 (talk) 21:49, 24 October 2018 (UTC)

This is a wiki, so not really the best place to ask game questions, I recommend using the Official Forums in the future. I remember my first time fighting the Mechanical Bosses, they were indeed difficult. The Destroyer was the first one I was successfully able to defeat. While good armor and items help, Accessories, Potions, and Arenas are also a big help. See Guide:The Destroyer strategies for some ideas. Personally, I used a small box with a Heart Lantern, Campfire, Honey, Moon Charm, Regeneration Potion, and the Charm of Myths Accessory to boost my Health Regen really high. The Charm of Myths also helped for when I needed to use Greater Healing Potions. I also had Heart Statues wired to 1 Second Timers. The box arena was large enough to move out of the way when The Destroyer burrowed through, but small enough to prevent most of the Probes Lasers from hitting me. (I think the dimensions were around 12 Blocks wide and 6 Blocks tall (inside, not counting the Blocks used as walls itself). Each side had a two block wide one block deep of Honey. When The Destroyer burrowed through, I would stand in one of the Honey pools and continuously slash at it with the Death Sickle if I remember correctly. Actually, I hadn't had a Solar Eclipse yet, so it must of been an Ice Sickle (I distinctly remember using some type of Sickle ). I also had the Obsidian Shield to prevent knockback and add defense, and all my Accessories had the Warding Modifier for more defense. I had Adamantite armor instead of Titanium armor because my world had gotten Adamantite Ore instead and this was before Fishing was introduced. (Man, I didn't realize I wrote so much, lol) Anyways, keep trying, as I know it took me several attempts, you can do it! – ReedemtheD3ad! (talk) 23:09, 24 October 2018 (UTC)

the destroyer[]

the destroyer probes are easy to deal with if you have a spider staff and armor.my arena for the sceletron prime and twins are attached by a 1 block tower from my NPC tower[this is all from the Xbox 360 version].so I cling to that because he can barely go up and to stay away I use an ice bow and jester bows. if I need to melee the probes, I use the frost band.i also use the golden shower and cristal storm against both. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.217.46.208 at 23:10, 22 July 2019 (UTC)

somthing thats been bothering me about this guy...[]

so according to the lore post om the forums (found here https://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/terraria-8th-anniversary-lore-event.79764/) the mech bosses are rebuilt parts of Cthulhu if thats the case then why is there a mech Eow if hes just a big curruption worm the cultist would have no need for it maybe the Eater of worlds is the Cthulhu's intestines? Eeveeboi71 (talk) 20:56, 29 October 2019 (UTC)

Probably a discussion best taken back to the forums, but it might well be that the corruption represents parasites that came from the Moon Lord. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 23:01, 29 October 2019 (UTC)
Actually, according to the Bestiary, the Destroyer is a mechanical spine, and there seems to be no connection between the Destroyer and the EoW. 56KPK (talk) 01:28, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

Item Drop Location[]

At least back in 1.2, the Destroyer dropped all of its items at the location of its head (and frequently left them either floating high in the air or buried in the ground), but in 1.4.0.3 they seem to always appear directly on top of me. Other bosses don't appear to do this. --Quietust (talk) 12:56, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

The items are now dropped at the nearest segment of the boss. Check the "History" section and you'll notice that this feature was added in 1.2.3.BadPiggy1024 (talk) 10:16, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

Extra dps[]

Can i use lava to do more damage to the destroyer? 173.27.119.5 14:43, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
