  • The admin noticeboard is one way for users to notify administrators of issues requiring administrative attention. Users are also welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), but posting here can more reliably ensure that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond promptly. Remember to sign when posting an issue.
    • Post only issues that require administrative action, e.g. blocking vandals, protecting pages, or restoring deleted pages.
    • Do not post deletion requests here. Add {{delete}} to the top of the target page instead. In most cases, add the delete tag, rather than replacing the entire page content with it, so that administrators can easily verify that the content was deletable.
    • Do not post issues here regarding content disputes. Try posting to the community noticeboard instead.

Vandalism reports: Posting here should be a last resort. Revert first, as anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene.

Creating a new request – vandals
    1. Edit the Vandal reports section
    2. At the top of the list, use the {{vandal|IP address or username here}} template. Provide a short and neutral summary of the issue.
Creating a new request – non-vandal cases (e.g. user issues, page protection/undeletion, etc.)
    1. Add a new section (+) to the page and enter an appropriate title (without using templates or links) in the subject field.
    2. In the edit field, enter a short and neutral summary of the issue. Use the {{user|IP address or username here}} template to refer to users involved with the case and provide links to important pages or edits.
    3. As a courtesy, also leave a message on the talk page of any involved user.

Vandal Adventacle (profile • talk • contribs (deleted) • logs • block log • block) - They left a bunch of bad comments in Talk page Daud ahn (talk) 03:21, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

I went and reverted most of his edits. Not sure it warrants a block. I left a comment on his profile, explaining the purpose of Talk pages. If he continues, will likely block him a week to get his attention. Ferretwings, CTM (talk) 23:53, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

Vandal Jacobhusmann (profile • talk • contribs (deleted) • logs • block log • block) Vandalized Witch Doctor, created a page titled Banners (Peaceful) that appears to serve no use (redundant) and continually adds to it/removes delete tags. Not sure what to do about them but at least a warning would be nice. 2057clones (talk) 00:49, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Thaks for reporting. I've deleted the page and blocked him for three days as he intentionally vandalized the Witch Doctor page three times. Dinoxel (talk) 10:50, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Vandal 73.80.122.254‎ (talk • contribs (deleted) • logs • block log • block) Vandalizing/adding irrelevant information to Talk:Cursed Flame. Persisting despite reversions. 2057clones (talk) 18:46, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

I've deleted the page and posted on their talk page. I don't think they were acting maliciously but this counts as a warning to them for now. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 20:00, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

Vandal 204.11.188.94 (talk • contribs (deleted) • logs • block log • block) History of vandalism, returned after two blocks to continue vandalizing. (If this is already listed farther down, apologies, I couldn't find it anyway) 2057clones (talk) 13:20, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

Both blocked. Thanks! --Eraloiz (talk) 15:35, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

Vandal 63.152.2.174 (talk • contribs (deleted) • logs • block log • block) Replacing content on Bathtubs, persisted despite a reversion. Only two edits as of writing, reporting for awareness. 2057clones (talk) 00:55, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

Vandal Pcgmrich (profile • talk • contribs (deleted) • logs • block log • block) I'm skipping the usual warning I give new members because this one's just doing the same vandalism that Germag2213 does whenever his blocks expire. Probably a sock puppet account. PuzzledKino (talk) 00:38, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

Bumping for awareness. (Sorry if I'm not allowed to do this or anything, I didn't see any rules about it, so...) Anyway, they are moving pages in an identical manner to Germag2213, and persisting after reversions. --2057clones (talk) 14:45, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
Blocked, thanks for the report. Gotta protect the Enemies page. --Dinoxel talk 15:34, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
Returning to say that they are misquoting people in their talk page as Germag2213 does. Given the severity of Germag2213's actions and the fact that this appears to be a sockpuppet account anyway, this may warrant disabling their talk page? --2057clones (talk) 02:25, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
Might be preferable yeah, thanks. --Dinoxel talk 14:59, 1 October 2020 (UTC)

Vandal Germag2213 (profile • talk • contribs (deleted) • logs • block log • block) Still posting the same vandalism they've been doing for a few months now. PuzzledKino (talk) 19:53, 19 September 2020 (UTC)

Blocked. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 23:42, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! Unfortunately, the block does not prevent this user from modifying their talk page and misquoting other users, which they are currently doing. PuzzledKino (talk) 01:51, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
Just bumping this for awareness, since I probably drowned my own report in all the edits I made last night. Thanks. PuzzledKino (talk) 17:13, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
Alright; vandals are usually not deprived of their right to edit their own talk page, so that they are still able to communicate and appeal against the block, but this user apparently has no intention of using that right constructively. Thanks for this followup. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 19:18, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

Vandal Theterrariaplayer89 (profile • talk • contribs (deleted) • logs • block log • block) Created a page documenting a nonexistent item, vandalized one page, and put something strange on the community noticeboard that I'm not sure how to deal with. Has not been warned as I can tell, reporting for awareness and alert. --2057clones (talk) 15:44, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

Vandal Boom853 (profile • talk • contribs (deleted) • logs • block log • block) Seems to be purposefully making edits in small steps to grind up their edit count. Refer to edits such as from this to this, from this to this, and this to this. Their entire contribution history is filled with what I'd call "double edits" where they change 1 tiny thing followed by a second tiny thing shortly afterwards. These double, triple, or even quadruple edits are done within minutes of eachother and have no summary, leading to a contribution history of only "Mobile edit, Mobile web edit". While some double edits can be seen to be informative, some are completely un-necessary, such as from this to this. If an example of quadruple edits is needed, one can look further on the Honey page. After the un-necessary edit to the wording of their tip, they followed up with these edits: this edit adding a useless info box, the following edit removing the info box, the next edit adding an image of honey in a "Forest", the next one editing "Forest" to be "Bee Hive" but with "Bee" and "Hive" being linked separately, and then this edit fixing the link to properly point at "Bee Hive". Multiple edits is acceptable but this user is clearly making purposefully incorrect edits to pad out their edit count. ImmortalZypther (talk) 19:40, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Vandal 72.225.23.115 (talk • contribs (deleted) • logs • block log • block) Only 2 edits, both of which contain incorrect information. ImmortalZypther (talk) 19:27, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

    Blocked edit from a filter

An attempt to add an internation link to a page in another (Russian) language was blocked by the filter "Too many foreign letters or repeat symbols". Well that's how it works I guess. (In that case I tried to add russian link on Tile IDs, but it would also prevent from adding any other link of this kind. The link itself gets blocked even here) Pickpocke (talk) 10:35, 9 January 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for reporting this. I added the interwiki link in question (see edit) and also modified the filter so that it allows adding those from now on, regardless of number of foreign letters. Apparently, interwiki links weren't considered when that filter was set up, so thank you again for noting it! --Rye Greenwood (talk) 04:02, 11 January 2020 (UTC)

    Login Issues

Permissions problem: Was getting an odd message on all profile pages including my own: "You do not have permission to add comments or reply. Please make sure you are logged in, have validated your email address, and have performed at least one edit to an article.". At that point it looked from the top bar like I was logged in, but I tried logging out and then back in. The site told me all logins should go to the main Gamepedia portal... Then it force-redirected me to the Twitch portal to log in, but after logging in I got "Forbidden - CSRF token invalid", and I am not logged in. Cargo tables, Drilldown -> "Permission error" for anonymous users

I understand if it's disallowed because it's cpu intensive or whatnot, but if it's just an oversight, please add permission for anonymous IPs to use it. Atm I just use offset=0&limit=10000 to work around it which is probably more resource intensive. 84.248.92.236 06:49, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

NPC infobox $auto in a mess

Like take Green Slime as an example. Expert mode damage 112 max life 324? That's nowhere close to the proper value... I see that infobox template is getting a lot of updates recently and hopefully you're working on this issue and the addition of Master mode NPC stats.

The Expert mode damage is not just post-Plantera damage either. Check Slime#Variants where the data is the same as when I first edited Blue Slime to add in Master mode data- Blue Slime is currently displaying the data I updated, and in the brackets with a question mark are the data from $auto.

The max life and damage data for blue slime are a bit messy from this, I know, but it's better than telling people the wrong expert mode data and missing master mode data.

I hope that the data for $auto can be fixed and have Master mode data included asap. Thanks a lot! --Creeper_NoDenial (talk) 15:20, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

Update: I’ve checked just now and on Green Slime’s page it said Blue Slime banner. Editing Issue

I was trying to edit the reference to the Town Bunny name "Inaba" since I incorrectly thought it was Tewi Inaba, but after thinking things over more, I realized the reference was more likely to be the character Reisen Udongein Inaba from Touhou. Your addition contained a string of characters that alerts the filter, which then prevents you from saving the page. It has nothing to do with the content, it was just a false positive. Thank you for reporting this! I have improved the filter so that this should not happen again.

    API help

Dear Devs, I am working on my custom Discord bot (All Credit will be provided once finished) and I was wondering if there was API documentation for terraria.gamepedia.com because I am currently struggling to write a python code since the closest thing I can find is the API documentation for League of Legends' gamepedia (https://lol.gamepedia.com/Help:API_Documentation). Please let me know if you could provide me with a little help or show an already existing help page which I cannot find. Thank you for taking your time reading this email. P.S. In case you're wondering what will the bot do, it will take in the keyword as an input from the user and give it a brief summary which will be taken from you wiki (I was told that all the info here is free to use) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Specialedceo (talkcontribs) at 22:08, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello, we don't have a page dedicated to API help, but most of what is described on Leaguepedia's page applies to the Terraria Wiki as well, since both wikis are based on the same software. In particular, MediaWiki's API help is a good reference, and every wiki has an API sandbox that you can use for testing queries. The entry point is, again, as on all MediaWiki wikis, /api.php: https://terraria.gamepedia.com/api.php.
In general, if you're writing in Python, I highly recommend you to take a look at the two packages linked on Leaguepedia's page, mwclient and MWParserFromHell. I have very positive experiences with them.
Lastly, I'd like to inform you that MarkusRost has created a bot, "Wiki-Bot", whose functionality is similar to what you seem to want to create. Maybe you can get in touch with Markus if you need assistance, or pay the bot's Discord support server a visit.

    Bot account

How do I create a bot account? I would like to create one. Also, can you make several bot accounts?Pispacedolphinmachinegun (talk) 22:33, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

A bot account is (as far as I know) simply a normal account that runs automated scripts in order to complete repetitive tasks. There is a special "Bot" account status that can be set, which does some convenient changes to make it easier to use. Multiple bot accounts would probably be doable, though there wouldn't be much point unless you need to have them do multiple things at a time. --172.58.172.11 22:36, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
    See these:
You'll need to create a separate account, clearly marked as a bot and with a link to the operator (you), and you'll need to generate bot credentials (second link above). Equazcion (talk) 22:40, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

    Not allowed to make edit

Hello, I am trying to edit the Gem Critters page by removing a lot of invisible infocards which are cluttering the edit section. In that page, it appears that there originally was an infocard for every single type of critter, but they were condensed into 2 general infocards because they all had the exact same statistics. However, the old infocards were not removed and were instead made invisible by some method, which results in a lot of unnecessary clutter when editing. Would it be helpful to remove these invisible infocards, and if so, how would I or someone else be able to do it without it being denied? 24.152.169.72 01:17, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

A note on the page explains that those infoboxes are necessary for cargo storage purposes, that's probably why it's being blocked. --Wrpen (talk) 02:34, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
I wonder if we can make editing easier by putting those infoboxes somewhere else, and transcluding them into the page if Cargo requires that. Equazcion (talk) 02:54, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
Well if there is I don't know how to do it. --Wrpen (talk) 07:38, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

    Vandalism Report

It seems I have been accused of vandalizing the Guide:Defending Against Events page, and I would like to clear that up. When I wrote the Guide:Goblin Army Strategies page, I wrote that a ditch with a little bit of lava was ideal. It seemed to me the 2 guides were contradicting each other, so I removed the simple ditch on Guide:Defending Against Events. In hindsight, I guess of should've replaced it with the lava ditch strategy. So yeah, sorry about that. Pispacedolphinmachinegun (talk) 05:39, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

    Breaker Blade

I was trying to add a trivia for breaker blade, but when I put it as a POSSIBLE reference to Cloud's Buster Sword, but there have been no response from the developers, due to me seeing stuff like that, it said the info I tried to put in was harmful. What's up with that?

    Can't edit Stardust armor trivia

I understand why the page was locked, but since it has been confirmed since 1.4 to be a Jojo reference, the lock should probably be lifted. I was trying to change

"Due to the community's enthusiasm in comparing Stardust armor to the manga and anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, Yoraiz0r has acknowledged the resemblance and said the armor can be a reference."

    to

"Due to the community's enthusiasm in comparing Stardust armor's name and set bonus to the abilities of the protagonist in manga and anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, Yoraiz0r acknowledged the unintentional resemblance, and in 1.4 the Stardust Guardian's behavior was changed to even more closely resemble the anime/manga."

Just to improve clarity to the backwards way the reference got added to the game, but it seems that all edits to that section are locked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.244.77.100 at 15:21, 5 June 2020‎

"and in 1.4 the Stardust Guardian's behavior was changed to even more closely resemble the anime/manga" -- That's not confirmed. They actually said "All resemblance to a certain anime is purely coincidental." Much as that might be an intentional tease, we still have no confirmation regarding any intention on the developer's part to make this look like the anime. Equazcion (talk) 19:27, 5 Jun 2020 (UTC)

So that definitely used to be the case, but I noticed that someone added this conversation screen cap (https://terraria.gamepedia.com/File:Stardust_Jojo_ref.png) to the page confirming that series of events. "it wasn't one at first, but the community thought otherwise and it's somthing we embraced, especially with the changes in 1.4" -Yoraiz0r 96.244.77.100 13:35, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

    Vanity item page

There is something strange about the Vanity items page. When I save it as a pdf, any other Terraria Wiki page is saved quickly without any problem. But Vanity items don't, and it raises my computer's RAM usage to the maximum available, crushing. I tested with several Terraria Wiki pages, but it only happens with Vanity item page. I understand that it's not really a wiki problem, but I confess that I was curious about why this happens.

    Last Prism is unfairly locked

Everyone knows that this weapon and its tooltip are references. Everyone. Even your mom knows it. And this shouldn't be surprising. This game is FULL of references. Nearly every single item in the late game contains or is a reference to something. Yet this page has been unfairly singled out and blocked from people posting theis extremely obvious reference by an admin who insists that it's all just wacky coincidences and that no references exist in the game, with absolutely no reason given for why they are so deadset on disallowing mention of these very blatant references. It's especially bizarre considering that other, WAY more tenuous references are allowed on various other pages. Considering that the only reason stated in the Discussion page is, and I quote, "League and Touhou fanboys need to leave this game alone", I can only assume that it's a power-mad admin with a grudge against those properties, trying anything and everything to prevent them from being mentioned on this wiki. Knight991016907 (talk) 12:31, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Nobody said there are no references in the game. Also, the quoted user was just some random unregistered user. Also, if the reference is not confirmed, most editors need to agree that it's probably a reference, but there is a lot of disagreement about this. The policy is that it shall therefore be kept off the page unless confirmed by a dev. --172.58.7.127 12:38, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

I have occasionally had problems, but not often, and usually a hard reload or purging the cache fixes it, which it didn't this time. Trying again... And, still happening. I've been editing other pages, no problem. But when I try to add {{See also|Guide:NPC Happiness}} to the Happiness section, right beneath the "Desktop-only" banner, I get a "Something Went wrong" box, with a white-on-white HTTP 413 message.

For whatever reason, the page won't show up in the category for deletion candidates -- maybe because it's a user page? Regardless, just so it doesn't go unnoticed, I'm requesting its deletion here. Thanks! PuzzledKino (talk) 03:01, 19 September 2020 (UTC)

Deleted, thanks. --Eraloiz (talk) 10:44, 19 September 2020 (UTC)

    Finally figured it out!

After much searching, I found an article on Gamepedia and fandom merging and having to give consent. Failure would lock you out until doing so. I already gave my consent and waiting for a reply. How long would I have to wait? -Pispacedolphinmachinegun. 23.126.202.49 15:38, 21 September 2020 (UTC)

Gamepedia won't let me insert a gif when editing a page

I want to contribute to the wiki by adding gifs that show the new flail mechanics, but when I try and insert the gif in the page, this pops up. The translation would be along the lines of "This action has been identified as hurtful, therefore it has been disabled". And then it says that I committed "size vandalism". I don't know what's that, but I don't mean to vandalize anything. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marlux895 (talkcontribs) at 19:00, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

Edit: Okay, after trying differents things, I managed to upload the gif. But still, could someone give me an explanation for the automatic filter to go off? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marlux895 (talkcontribs) at 19:37, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

The filter was misconfigured to catch file uploads as well, instead of only normal edits, and I suppose the size of your file exceeded its limits (hence the "size vandalism"). This should no longer happen now. Sorry for the inconvenience! --Rye Greenwood (talk) 19:46, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

    Broken/Invalid link on Rules page

There is a seemingly a link connected for the 505 Games bug reporting forum here it instead take you to the non existing page of formsite.com--Daud ahn (talk) 01:13, 1 October 2020 (UTC)

Removed. Seems like 505 Games are active on the Console/Mobile bug forum anyway, so I'm not sure why they had 2 ways to report. Thanks. --Eraloiz (talk) 12:50, 1 October 2020 (UTC)

    Weird 'glithcy' file

    latest?cb=20200330061341 this gif's color doesnt seems right--Daud ahn (talk) 03:09, 1 October 2020 (UTC)

Was asked to solve captcha because "Your edit includes new external links." althrough edit did not have them.

I was shown "Your edit includes new external links. To protect the wiki against automated spam, we kindly ask you to solve the following CAPTCHA:" when saving page, even though my edit didn't have any and as far as I can tell section I edited didn't have external links either. I'm guessing something is misconfigured on the wiki. link to the edit 86.115.0.120 07:57, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

I apologize for the inconvenience, though I'm afraid that's outside of our control. What we as editors have control over is the abuse filter, but it didn't react to any of your actions, there's nothing in the logs (and it can't force a captcha anyway). Hence I'd guess some system on Fandom's side was responsible for this, since the wiki recently got moved to Fandom and there have been no reports of this kind of issue before. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 18:54, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

    Editing Infoboxes

According to the 1.4.1 patch notes, the set bonus on Cobalt Mask was changed from melee speed to +15% melee damage, a great boost. I tried to edit that in the main article, but the infobox is automatically generated. Is there any way to incorporate the changes to the infobox? Mathbrush1 (talk) 20:55, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

    Edit:Nevermind, I'm dumb.Mathbrush1 (talk) 20:57, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
Just in case someone else has the same question: The automatic data in the infobox can always be modified manually, simply add the respective parameter. Most parameters support replacing the string @@@@ with the automatic data of that parameter, so that auto and manual data can be mixed. See the template documentation for more information. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 21:12, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

    Database Dump

Hi! I am interested in downloading a database dump. I looked on Special:Statistics , but the dump listed there is from 2016, and its AWS link gives me a 403 error. According to https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Database_download , a wiki admin can request a new database dump. Would somebody here be willing to do so? Thanks. I've requested an update, but I'm not sure how long it takes to show up or if it even works on Gamepedia wikis yet. --Eraloiz (talk) 15:24, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

    Bait page not displaying correctly

Tried it on Firefox and Microsoft Edge, did not work on either. Screenshot is attached. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.217.205.102 at 1:42, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

The page had to be purged. It's now done, and working perfectly on both Edge and Firefox. Dinoxel (talk) 02:05, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
