Green tick This page details a formal Terraria Wiki policy which governs one or more aspects of the wiki and its community. Policies are established and maintained by administrators on the behalf of the community. To learn how to propose changes to Terraria Wiki policies, please see Terraria Wiki:Policy#Proposing policy changes.

Basic summary of this policy: Rollback is a tool which allows for multiple consecutive edits by the same editor to be reverted in a single click. Users who possess this right on this wiki are identified by green usernames. Users can be nominated for this role at Terraria Wiki:Rights Nominations.

Anyone can revert vandalism and bad-faith edits, but it takes a couple of clicks in the page history to get it done. Users with the rollback right (often called "rollbackers" or the like) are able to quickly revert long strings of edits by the same user in a single click. Such users can be identified by green usernames and comment highlights. It should also be noted that all admins have access to this tool by default.

Rollback usage

Rollback indicator

As shown to the right, rollbackers have an extra button next to each edit in page histories or on Recent Changes, so long as the edit in question is the most recent revision of the page. Clicking this button will instantly (without any kind of confirmation) undo all consecutive edits by the same contributor, changing the page back to the last version by someone other than the contributor whose edit was rolled back. The entry this tool creates in the page's history is as follows:

m (Reverted edits by User A (talk | block) to last version by User B.)

As usage of this tool does not allow the edit summary to be changed, it should generally only be used on vandalism and other bad-faith edits. It can be used on large strings of incorrect, but well-meaning edits only if an explanatory message is left on the talk page of the user whose edits were reverted. However, when in doubt over whether or not this tool should be used, best practice would be not to use it.

Other rollbacker abilities

See Terraria Wiki:Forum Guidelines#Forum moderators for guidelines regarding this particular rollbacker ability

In addition to the tool this right was named after, users with this right also have the ability to edit other users' forum messages.

Who has rollback?

The following users are in the rollback group. Users in this group are also always listed at Special:Listusers/rollback.

Obtaining rollback

Any user can be nominated for this role by any other user at Terraria Wiki:Rights Nominations#Rollbackers, though no user will ever be given this right without their consent. Users considered for this role should have a history of good edits, especially when it comes to reverting vandalism.
