Paladin's Shield is a post-Plantera Hardmode accessory. While equipped, and when the player's health is above 25%, it grants the player the Paladin's Shield buff: This buff only affects team multiplayer, where it plays a support role by causing 25% of any damage inflicted on other teammates to transfer to the wearer instead. Teammates must remain within a certain range for this effect to work.

In both singleplayer and multiplayer, Paladin's Shield also provides the wearer immunity to knockback (like other Shields), and provides an additional 6 defense.

Paladin's Shield has a 10% chance to drop (15% on expert, as well as a chance to drop two at once since version ****) from a Paladin.

Notes

• Damage is split by the Paladin's Shield before Defense is accounted for. All of a teammate's defense is applied to the 75% they still take, and the shieldbearer's own defense applies to the remaining 25%.
• The wearer of the Paladin's Shield will always take at least one damage from a teammate being hit. This will trigger the effects of items such as the Sweetheart Necklace and the Star Veil.
• While wearing a Black Belt or the Master Ninja Gear, incoming damage from teammates can be dodged.
