The Meowmere is a Hardmode, post-Plantera melee weapon. It auto-swings, firing a cat-shaped projectile trailed by a rainbow that consumes no mana or ammunition. The projectile is affected by gravity, and will bounce four times, piercing multiple enemies, before disappearing on the fifth hit. As of update 1.3.0.1, it has the highest base damage for a melee weapon in the game, followed by the Terrarian. Prior to the update, this title went to the Terra Blade. The Meowmere has a 11.11% chance to be dropped by the Moon Lord boss. Its best modifier is Legendary.

Notes

• This weapon can be very useful in close range situations, even when inside the Hardmode Dungeon for example, because of the tight corridors and small chambers with relatively flat geometry.
• The Meowmere is very effective in clearing grass as its projectiles will minimally bounce when fired close to the ground.
• Unknown bug can cause the Meowmere to kill the player (unconfirmed).

Trivia

• Redigit first mentioned a Meowmere as being a sword that makes cat sounds when swung, in a possibly joking manner. Cenx later confirmed that the item was indeed planned for 1.3.
• The projectiles that the sword fires were probably inspired by the Nyan Cat meme.
• The name of the weapon could be a reference to Darcy's mispronunciation of Mjölnir, (Thor's Hammer,) in the movie Thor.
