Welcome

Wiki-wordmark

Hello Fruipit, and welcome to the Terraria Wiki! Thanks for your contribution to the Category:Rare items page. Here are several pages that can help you with where to begin:

  • Wiki Activity – A great first stop, because you can see what pages other people have been editing, and where you can help out.
  • Help Pages - If you're new to editing or having trouble getting something to work, the help pages are a great place to start.
  • Forums - The forums are used for a number of things, from proposing policy changes to in-game help. You can use the Admin Noticeboard to report abuse or otherwise request an administrator's assistance.
  • Community Portal - The community portal serves a number of purposes. It lists Terraria Wiki's policies, suggestions on ways to further contribute to the wiki, as well as a number of helpful links.
  • Administrators - A list of Terraria Wiki's administrators. If you need additional assistance or are having troubles, feel free to contact an administrator with the details.
  • Always sign in before you edit – This is so that we can recognize you!
  • Always sign your posts - When leaving a message on someone's talk page, remember to sign it by clicking either the 'signature' button or by typing four tildes (~~~~). This is so the person knows who to reply to.

There's a lot to do around here, so we hope you'll stay with us and make many more contributions. And again, welcome to Terraria Wiki. Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! Oscuritaforze (talk) 11:14, December 5, 2013 (UTC)

Hi!

Hey Fruipit,

I just wanted to say I read your blog post and really appreciated your "I've made it a mission of mine to get to know this wiki" approach. One thing that's true of every wiki is that it has a "method to the madness". There's a wide degree of variance there – whether it's cemented in formal, written policies and procedures that are closely followed, or more of an informal operating norm shared by the people in the community. I think that what you'll find is that Avatar Wiki is more of the former, while Terraria Wiki is more of the latter.

What it boils down to is that, historically, the vast majority of users here 1) haven't been experienced wiki editors, and 2) care more about Terraria the Game than the inner workings of the Terraria Wiki. When you don't have many active, experienced users concerned with the inner workings of a wiki, well, there's a limit to how much you can evolve and maintain policies and procedures.

And that's okay. Terraria Wiki may not be the most evolved wiki community, but it is a successful one. I hope that you will come to find something to like about the wiki, and some way you can use your experience to shape it.

P.S. Oh yeah, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Math, one of users who's been around for a while, but not an active editor here currently. I still love Terraria, but when you work 40 hours, take night classes, and have other hobbies and priorities in life, well, there's a limit to how much I can be around here. That being said, I am still lurking around Wikia sometimes these days, at least to maintain my scripts over at dev and stopping in here on occasion.

Anyways, I hope you'll keep editing here and wish you luck! Despite not being the most available person these days, I am genuinely interested in people having fun with wikis and being helpful when I can, so feel free to leave me a message if you like :) 20px_Rin_Tohsaka_Avatar.png Mathmagician ƒ(♫) 23:30 UTC, Saturday, 7 December 2013
