I clicked edit on your Status Legend (of course I can't edit) and I saw how to get colored text. RED GREEN BLUE PURPLE and I know how to return it to normal. So... can I use color? and a status thing? (Online/Offline/Busy/sleeping) Oh and I know how to post at the top of the page. I just edit it and put my message. Don't worry, I wont mess up your Talk Page unless I have gone crazy :) --Orion76 21:32, January 28, 2012 (UTC)

Hi Gracey, I was just wondering (since it said it on the automated post), what would be needed on the Wiki? As far as I can tell, quite a lot of the content is covered, and covered very well. I look forward to helping however I can. --Mr.Buckethat, esquire. 16:49, January 6, 2012 (UTC)

Multiple Page Edits

Hey there Gracey, hope you're well. I'd just like to apologise for repeatedly editing so many pages. My slow internet speed (which will be fixed in 3 days) seems to mess up the editor's perception of my edit content at times... But yeah, I'll try keep it more under raps.

Little bit of Confusion

Heya Gracey, hope your new year's going well so far. I just thought I'd mention a slight Achievement glitch that I noticed; The wiki gave me two "Bridge Builder" badges, probably due to the speed with which I added the categories.

Hey Path, everythings been pretty good. How about you, having fun? With the badge, thats strange i will notify wikia staff about it. Wikia has quite a few issues with a number of its features as i'm sure your aware, so this may just fix itself in a bit. Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 10:05, January 5, 2012 (UTC)
That's good to hear, it's been pretty good on my end, catching up with friends before school comes back in, heh. Guess we'll have to wait and see if Wikia figures itself out then. In the meantime I guess I have no reason to complain ^_^

Hi, thanks for the tip... I had no idea that page even existed. I'm still kind of getting the hang of things, so please excuse me if I do anything retarded.

Also, I came up with some ideas for a new wiki background, and notified Dratini, but I have no idea exactly how active he is, and if/when he'll even see it. I do know, however, that you are incredibly active, and I thought I'd notify you as well. Check out the New Background section of Dratini's talk page if you're interested.

Disregard this, got your message right as I published it. Sorry.

Coins Infobox

You should change the copper coins image on the Coins Infobox from that of a hundred to one, to make it fit in better with the others. I would do it myself, but apparently it's protected. The replacement image I had in mind was item_71.png.

Motion for Individual Pages and Consistency

It is the precedence on this wiki that some pages contain information for multiple (but highly related) items and monsters. After thinking about it for a while, I would like to challenge this notion by making the following proposition:

  • Each and every single item and monster in the game be given its own page
  • Conglomerate pages such as Watch or Slime Monsters would become disambiguation pages that link to each individual item/monster page. Or, if there is sufficient information for a content page, then the conglomerate page would become a content page that links to each individual page while also summarizing key points and concepts (Writing only on the general content page, no infoboxes. Infoboxes for each individual item go on each individual page).
  • Each item/monster page would contain links to each of the other related pages
  • This proposal would not apply to concepts/game features/etc. Only to monsters and items.
  • For consistency, I would like to apply this even to the Pressure Plate page. Each pressure plate is technically a separate item and they do have different pictures and names, even if the stats are the same.

I present the following reasons for proposing this change:

  • This layout would more accurately represent the game itself, while also eliminating any possible confusion as to which items are related and should go on the same page, and which ones aren't related enough to go on the same page.
  • Individual pages would be quicker and easier to read, because less information would be on each page and readers wouldn't have to waste time (even if it's just a few seconds) deciding what information pertains to which item.
  • Each individual item/monster should have its own infobox. A single infobox that contains information for multiple items/monsters does not look very pretty, especially when the items/monsters have different stats. Also, pages with multiple infoboxes do not look as clean as pages with a single infobox.
  • This design proposal is already in usage. Example: Repeaters and the 4 different repeater pages for each individual item. Also, any of the armor set pages and the pages for each individual piece of armor.
  • This proposal establishes a clear, reasonable and consistent standard to go by as new patches come out and the game expands.
  • The Terraria Online wiki generally adheres to this layout as well.
  • This project isn't too ambitious. The vast majority of this wiki uses this layout. I just want to make it absolutely consistent.

Potential issues and how this proposal addresses them:

  • Complete information for multiple items/monsters would no longer be in the same place. Links and disambiguation pages allow for quick and easy navigation.
  • The amount of redundant information could increase. Information common to multiple items would go on the disambiguation page (if there's only a little bit of info). If there's a lot of info in common, a general content page would be used instead of a disambiguation page. Only information specific to a particular item would go on that item's page.

Should you find this proposal agreeable, I can do all of the necessary work of moving information, creating new pages, linking everything appropriately, etc. I would not be adding or removing any information or doing any sort of editorial work (although I suppose I might quickly check for grammar and spelling). Only moving things around. I would also probably maintain a "project status" blog entry, which would contain a list of all pages created/changed as well as the ones I'm still intending to work on.

Mathmagician ( Σ talk blog contributions ) 04:11, January 9, 2012 (UTC)

Hey i agree with your proposal, you welcome to go ahead. One question but you mention you don't like multiple infoboxs on pages, so how do you plan on dealing with boss pages like The Twins? Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 04:38, January 9, 2012 (UTC)

Mathmagician ( Σ talk blog contributions ) 04:11, January 9, 2012 (UTC)

I was just thinking about the lack of disambiguation pages a few days ago, and would gladly help out with this project, if you'd like.

Dzylon 04:44, January 9, 2012 (UTC)

Okay thanks, I'll get right on that then. Very good point you bring up. I would make an exception for The Twins. I see The Twins as a single boss entity, and the pieces are sort of like the segments of worm enemies. (It would be silly to make individual pages for segments of a worm, since they are part of the same monster.)
I'm not entirely against having multiple infoboxes on the same page, it's just that the current implementation of infoboxes only allows them to float on the right.. and when there's a bunch of that it's not pretty in my opinion.
Perhaps in the future, infoboxes could be modified so that a parameter could be used to float it at a specific location. For example, I think The Twins be also improved by floating the infoboxes next to each other left/right, rather than above/below. And/or maybe a formatting template could be created to facilitate the placement of multiple infoboxes on the same page.
The pages that I want to change are not special cases like this. I'm talking about things that are obviously separate items/monsters, like the different colors of watches that have different stats and crafting recipes, or like pressure plates or dungeon bricks. These items may be related, but they do not stack together and they are not part of a single entity like Retinazer/Spazmatism forming the Twins.

Tim here again

Thanks for the earlier help, I have another question and a suggestion. Question being how do I review available infobox templates and what information points they contain? Suggestion being, could we change "Continuous Attack" in the Weapons infobox to "Style" where the options could be "Click to attack" and "Automatic" or something to that effect? "Continuous Attack" seems a bit long-winded for an infobox given the size constraints and there is always that chance they'll incorporate some other method for attacking. Thanks in advance! Thanks for the message.

hey Btw. if you see that i edited the mythril sword saying that it might be weaker, I didn't have a mythril sword and relied on the wiki, which 3 hours later I noticed that the information was false. so someone has put the wrong information on the mythril sword about DMG. just to let you know. I would change it but i sold my mythril sword because it didn't auto swing and i had a godly cobalt sword so i don't know the information anymore.

A Request For An Admin

Gracey, we both know that there is a user that is an incredible influence on the wikia. That user is Mathmagician Math has helped many pages, made many walkthroughs to help MANY players, & is generally just a grand assistance to the wikia. So for the love of god why ISN'T Math an admin?! Signed, Koggeh

My Apologies

You may have noticed I've been making multiple edits to the same pages. It may seem like I'm trying to run up my edit count, but I'm really not... you can reduce that to zero for all I care. I'm just a little OCD, and every time I publish an edit, my mind finds something else I can do to improve the page in some way, or make it look nicer somehow. I'm sorry if I'm spamming the edit history with countless edits.

Also, +1 on the Mathmagician admin proposition above.

Hey Gracey, um for the twins pics, a few things to say. Before I couldn't figure out how to put them in, but I figured it out. That night I did it, I talked to Dratini17, the founder, and I figured it out, BUT I FORGOT TO LOGIN WHEN I DID IT! D; But it was done. hey, question

So, I was helping Math with his Indivisual Projects...project, and I was going to work on the bricks. but I noticed that the page said they had been deleted in June of last year. Should i just leave them as they are, or fill them out? (Blue Brick, Green Brick, Pink Brick, sorry for no links.) Thanks. :3

Edit: Dzlyon found a way around it, and put the page not created link for Blue on my Blue Wall page, and Im assuming he did the same to Pink and Green. So I guess Ill just work on them. heres a copy of the log though:

New Images

Several items are missing from the Picture Database. I'm adding a few for the Disambig project, so please don't delete them. I did notify Kiruwugaka, but I'm not sure if he's active anymore. These images were created from the game files (same way he made them) so they look identical to how they would look if he had made them instead. Just letting you know. They do still need to be added to the database itself, though, but only he has the rights to edit that page (if I'm not mistaken). The images are in the new photos section if you want to take a look.

Formatting with Collapsible Tables

It looks like you noticed the formatting issue that Collapsible Tables are causing. Suggestion: perhaps we could just add the {{Clr}} template into the collapsible tables template itself (at the top, so that the table automatically clears everything), rather than trying to add it to every single page? I'd do it myself, except I haven't had a chance to look at exactly how the collapsible tables work, so I'm not sure how or even if it's possible or not.

Talk Pages

Hey, 3ICE reminded me about an issue that I haven't thought about in a while, and I thought it might be worth asking you about. Is there a particular reason why talk/discussion pages for editors aren't linked at the top of content pages like comments are on this wiki?

For example, 3ICE made a ton of changes to the Known Bugs And Glitches page. But, there were also a bunch of changes he was thinking about that he felt needed further discussion. Since there was no link to a talk page (e.g. Talk:Known Bugs And Glitches) at the top of the page, he resorted to posting his "discussion" as a series of comments. (That's not really what comments are meant to be used for, if you ask me.)

Could you maybe explain why we don't have talk pages for editors, and, if it's feasible, would you consider putting a link to talk pages at the top of content pages right next to the comments link? While I understand that there's not that many editors around here, I think it could still be helpful--especially for really large/important pages. Mathmagician ( Σ talk blog contributions ) 01:20, January 17, 2012 (UTC)

P.S. Could you also take a moment to sift through our discussion? Thanks.

Hey the way it works is we can either have talk pages or comments(pages in certain namespaces can only use talk pages, such as Portal pages). So if we have one it hides the other. I'm not 100% sure on why we enabled them, it was before my time, but i imagine it was a community decision. So if you want talk pages to be un-hidden you would need to start a forum post where you would need to receive a lot of support. In all honesty i doubt people will want to get rid of the comments in place of talk pages. Additionally wikia are working to remove talk pages so they will all be replaced with a facebook style layout soon.
On the matter of using comments to discuss an issue with the page, thats what they are for, but i understand they do suck for the job. To over come this, you have to got to the talk page by changing your url. The talk pages are hidden but can still be accessed, there just hard for new people to get to. Say you want to use the Aglet talk page you would add Talk:Aglet to the url after /wiki/ so it would look like this. But be warned, these pages could be permanently locked by staff as they push there new talk namespace.
On the matter of locking all talk pages, that would be a TOU violation but if we received a lot of support from our community wikia would allow it. Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 05:40, January 17, 2012 (UTC)
Okay yeah the thought crossed my mind that it might not be possible to have both talk and comments at the same time. Yeah in that case the community here would definitely prefer comments, so that all makes sense. Thanks for answering my question. I also didn't know about wikia moving away from talk pages in favor of more of a facebook type layout. That's interesting.
Mathmagician ( Σ talk blog contributions ) 06:02, January 17, 2012 (UTC)
They are yet to announce it, i know someone with a little ore info on the matter. But what they have announced so far is the "Message Wall", have you seen that? Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 06:12, January 17, 2012 (UTC)
I didn't even know about that either. Just went and looked it up on the community central wiki. Message Wall looks so much better than User Talk in appearance and end-user friendliness =)
Mathmagician ( Σ talk blog contributions ) 06:50, January 17, 2012 (UTC)
I personally think it destroys the talk namespace, and its non-wiki. I find it will only be good for new people who just want to use the site as a huge chat program. It will also make it easier to spam pages and its not as easy to clean up. If you look at it you will notice its not the same size as a content page so you can't use it like you could with a talk page. I use some wiki where we put a lot of content on talk pages, discussing policy, changes etc. With this it will make it impossible to do it as effectively. Hey Gracey sorry to bug you again but I have some more questions if you don't mind.

1) Is it okay for me to edit the Picture Database or will Kiruwagaka be upset? I don't know how active he is lately and there's a few things that need updating there, as Dzylon and The Pathogen pointed out to me. Dzylon has already generated a few pics from the game files exactly identical to the ones in the database, so he knows what he's doing I think, we just need to get those added to the page.

2) Do we have some kind of organizational system for the little icons used on pages like Items that I'm not aware of? If not, can we make like an "Icon Database" for them (or add them to the Picture Database... but then that page would be too long imo)

3) I talked with Dzylon and Pathogen in the chat and the 3 of us agree that the Image Policy is kinda off. For 1 thing, full-sized screenshots should be allowed for blog posts/forums/etc as long as they're thumbed and as long as they stay off of content pages. Secondly, nobody names their photos "Terraria <title>" and that's kinda silly because this IS the Terraria Wiki. Also Pathogen has recommended adding "Picasa Web Albums" as a trusted image source for externally hosted images.

4) I want to see if we can do some things to attract more editors to our site and also to help existing ones. To this end, I think we should create a basic "Editing Policy" (no adding videos, hero's videos are 350px, Green Slime should appear once at the top of the Green Slime page no more bolding after that, clarification on capitalization rules, use North American English (color > colour), Update Info goes in its own section, etc. etc.) Can talk more about this, lots of minute details to consider here. With this we have something we can point to and say "hey, please edit like this" when we see people doing things differently. (Also I'm going to be writing a series of blog posts for editors--fact not question, though I'll still appreciate your feedback when I'm done)

5) I'd like to create a forum thread called "Projects" and get another project sorta like the Individual Pages Project that we were doing earlier. I know we don't have too many editors around here, but if we can work together towards a common goal we can accomplish more. Do you support this idea? If so, what do you think needs doing around here (what should the next project be)?

Thanks as always, Mathmagician ( talk blog ) 18:41, January 20, 2012 (UTC)
I wouldn't touch the picture database with out first talking to Kiruwagaka. I edited the crafting page when he was in control of it and he had quiet a sook. The image policy was written as you can see completely by me with no input although i did request it. I'll change it to allow the different sizes. I see no real reason to add this "Picasa Web Albums", we already support a number of sites and only a couple of people use hotlinked pictures.
With the name of the photos, you will find if you look into its not silly at all it allows us to take higher rankings in google by people finding pictures hosted on our site.
With the editing help, you can write it but few will read it, sorry to say. With the color > colour, we use color here. Is that what you meant?
With the forum is suggest you just use the ones that are there. There are already 6 forums here and 2 aren't even used. Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 05:48, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
Just to clarify slightly, I was meaning to add it to the policy as a pre-approved site, as it's already free to be linked from. The images in my sig attest to that.

Math RE

Hey Gracey, I read all this and I understand and agree with what you're saying. Thanks. One thing I wanted to reiterate. Can we get this put here on the Terraria Wiki? (Just a rough draft, feel free to change it. Also notice how I separated the "advanced" stuff which is for the very few people who want to know more.) Also thanks for reading my blog and correcting my stupid rollback link. I'll get that fixed.

I want to put links to the (basic, not the advanced) policy here and also here so that it appears as a community message. I also want to move Community Messages above Hot Spots on Special:WikiActivity, but I'm not sure how to do that. P.S. I'm in the process of making a conscious effort to reduce my wall of text madness =P
Mathmagician ( talk blog ) 21:19, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

Hey i like the idea but i would like to move the first dot point on the advanced page to the basic page, as that's something that happens a lot. I also think we could expand the Advanced a bit more. Maybe add a toc and expand it quite a bit. Since like we need people to know how to add templates, mark pages for deletion etc as well.
With the policies i will move them to the policy page, with the community corner did you mean link to the Policy page or just link to the editing ones? Because we have the policy link in the navigation. With moving the community message above hotspots thats a breach of the sites TOU. Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 05:35, January 22, 2012 (UTC)
Btw i renamed a forum for you in case you didn't notice. Also what does this mean "P.S. I'm in the process of making a conscious effort to reduce my wall of text madness"? Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 06:08, January 22, 2012 (UTC)
The idea I was going for with the community corner was to say something like "Hello everyone! Please review our [[link to the editing policy|Editing Policy]] and help improve our wiki." -- and I wanted to have that be more visible. (Nav bar) On the wiki > Wiki Policies > Editing Policy is a lot of navigation to get to the editing policy. My goal was just to improve the visibility of it a little bit so that hopefully more people would see it.
Also I made a second draft of the policy attempting to reflect your ideas. I don't think the advanced part is expanded enough yet, but it's at least got a lot of good stuff there I think. If you know what needs to go there please add to/correct it because I'm out of ideas at the moment. Thanks for the Wiki Projects forum rename, I'll be using that shortly. The P.S. comment was because I always write really ridiculously long posts that you must be annoyed about reading...

Restoring Talk Page and Pictures in Source mode

Hey Gracey, I would just like to know how to restore my old talk page. And I also want to know how to add pictures in source mode.

Orion76 20:22, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

Carrot and Pet Bunnies

These shouldn't be pages on the wiki yet. Taking advantage of built-in bugs is one thing, but information about registry key modification to get the collector's edition (maliciously reverse-engineering the game code imo) is a direct slap in the face to the developers that I simply cannot support. I've blanked and locked the pages with the intention that they be restored from the history and modified when the collector's edition is officially released. I'll let you override my decision if you disagree. (The reason I didn't do this earlier is because I didn't see the pages/wasn't aware they were being used primarily to disseminate reg key edit info.)
Mathmagician ( talk blog ) 21:15, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

Thats fine, i considered deleting them myself. As i think it is illegal for the wiki to explain how to edit the game files, then on top of that this is a breach of the steam agreement. Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 06:38, January 23, 2012 (UTC)

Spelling Differences

Hey Gracey, after looking at the Excalibur page, I noticed there are no set standards for localized spelling on the wiki (armour/armor specifically). Do you think the wiki should use -our or -or in words such as these? I think we should use spelling specific to the majority of the wiki's visitors, but I don't have access to domain statistics such as those. Dzylon 12:31, January 23, 2012 (UTC)

Hey thats something that is being rectified now and a help page about it will be done soon. Basically we use American English unless the spelling of the word is different to that in the game. Some info about the differences. Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 12:38, January 23, 2012 (UTC)

Okay, I like the sound of this. I'll see what I can come up with by the end of this week. Also, I imported correctly and am about to put links on the policy page and on the nav bar under Community -> Editing Help.
Mathmagician ( talk blog ) 09:13, January 24, 2012 (UTC)
P.S. Actually I'm not going to mess with the nav bar myself, it appears to not want to publish because there are warnings. Would you be willing to add the link to Terraria Wiki:Editing Policy under Community -> Editing Help on the nav bar for me? I'm not exactly sure what to do about the warning message it gives me in the preview screen, so I better not mess with it. Also, would you consider updating MediaWiki:Community-corner to contain a link to the editing policy specifically, as well as maybe putting a link to the editing policy on Terraria_Wiki:Community_Portal? I don't want to touch these without your permission, but I think it might be nice to have links there. Like I was saying earlier, just wanted to increase the visibility of the policy so that we can hopefully get more people to see it. Thanks Gracey, I'm off to bed,
Mathmagician ( talk blog ) 09:23, January 24, 2012 (UTC)
Ok that's all done now. To get past the warning on the nav, just hit publish before the warning comes up. Lol how technical a fix is that. Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 11:25, January 24, 2012 (UTC)

Furthermore i would like to add that when you quit a little over a week ago you vandalised are for testing wiki by deleting all of the pages and saying and i quote "(don't need this anymore)"

so you deleted all the pages on our testing wiki and then quit. i pleaded with you and praised you so you would come back and now you are trying to start trouble. you vandalised the for testing wiki and quit and that is exactly how its gonna stay. your trying to cause problems with video on the wiki to hurt me and thats all. i have brought thousands to the wiki to help edit. i have ran contest and made t-shirts for the users with my own money. and have made countless videos for item tutorials and promoted the wiki endlessly. you have made alot of edits and i thinka you for your help but the first tme you were told no about something (and i do mean the very 1st) you quit the wiki vandalise our testing wiki and then make me beg you to come back only for you to try to cause internal problems. you only came back to start these problems and you arent ever coming back now. i will pick up the slack. thanks for your time and help but we dont ned an internal admin vandal whos real goal is a personal vendetta because i didnt like his version of the new home page.HeroGaming 18:38, January 28, 2012 (UTC)

Wrapping things up.

The Community has voted.

The Community has voted. This vote shows exactly what the community wants and it was placed on the front page for all to see, not hidden away for malicious purposes. The poll was taken down because the outcome was more than obvious in both polls by thousands of votes and we don't need this negative business on the front page forever.

The Final Vote

New admins

I will be looking for a few new admins over the next week or so to help out on the wiki. This wiki isn't a one man job its a team, so I will be looking for a few good admins who are team oriented and their goals are to have fun helping on a wiki for a game they love.

Bright Future.

Our wiki has grown very large. I would like to think I have played a very big role in that by sending thousands of people here from youtube. I showed my stats and showed that the wiki was less than 10% of my traffic and that I help the wiki more than the wiki helps me. I helped push our wiki to the top spot on google by bringing in so many editors and I did it because I love the game and wanted to build a community. I will continue to promote this wiki in every video I produce related to Terraria tutorials either by giving a shout out to the wiki or by linking to it in the description of my videos. Thank you for your existing support and kind words. Again I will do my best to promote the kind hearted admins and direct as much traffic back to the wiki as possible.HeroGaming 02:58, January 30, 2012 (UTC)

The vote.

Hey my friend. Sorry we had to end things the way we did. I talked with staff and the vote will stand. Again I really did appreciate all that you did for the wiki.

I wish you hadn't brought a sword against me in your attempt for power. You were the best admin I could have asked for. You just wanted your site to be so bad that it sent you into an angry tailspin. I want to protect the wiki. Staff can see how much traffic I bring to the wiki and how much I love it. They have the stats. I wasn't boasting. It really is beneficial to the wiki more than you ever understood.

I wish I could go back and not even recommend a forum or a new front page and take away all the problems that it led to. I will miss your diligence and your effort. You are truly irreplaceable. As I sit here typing this message I feel regret about ever even mentioning the changes that led you to the things you wanted which caused you to want to take over the wiki. I would have much rather had you as an ally than an enemy but our goals for the wiki were completely different and the dark path you wanted to go down was not where I wanted this wiki I love to end up.

The good part.

I have taken a lot more care in my sentence structure and how I type things because it was called into question. I'm sorry I was lazy with it in the first place. The wiki has had a lot of new people start editing a lot more to keep it in good shape. I am going to be working on new wiki policies that are clear and understandable. I will start being more open and kind to others and their ideas because I found this quote in all the mess. "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable." - JFK

Goodbye my friend.

I'm sorry our views didn't match up and our directions were so different. I wish you the best of luck in the future on all your endeavors. Sorry to post this out in the open on the wiki but Staff said it's best to keep conversations on the wiki from now on so it's easy to track.HeroGaming 03:57, January 31, 2012 (UTC)

Discussions about our wiki's video policy and administrative structure going forward will be started tomorrow (Wednesday afternoon/evening) by Sannse. Discussions will use a regular content page--which will basically be a forum with comments. The page itself is for detailed discussion, comments are for the rest of the community who don't feel comfortable with the forum format. I'm sending this message out to some key members of the community here so that they're notified. Let's have a polite and productive conversation.

Afterall you guys do a pretty good job. Herogaming's videos are pretty cool! He just cant say Terraria and Adamantite right... (Seriously, Terroria)

Anyway, i was here to ask who Blanzer is.

Is Blanzer an admin? Or a chat moderator?

If he is, he is trolling. He trolls everybody. Last day i read this:

- "Hey, i've got a pretty cool idea, think about it, you can upgrade night's edge with 100 souls of fright, sight, and might, night and light! And it becomes Twilight's edge with insane speed and 100 dmg!"

A wikia contributor

- "Nice, but, really, whats with the speed? You can't swing swords that fast."

A wikia contributor

- "Last i checked, you could swing katanas VERY fast. So, its not un-realistic."

A wikia contributor

- " F*uck this, twilight sucks. Go kill yourself."

Building Materials

Welcome back, Gracey. I'm glad to see you'll continue making edits. One thing I noticed is that you removed the Building Materials category from several brick pages. Why is that? I'm not questioning your edits, I'd just like to know so that I don't make any similar mistakes in the future. I thought bricks were building materials, and several brick pages still have the category. Is there some sort of limit to how many categories one page may contain? I currently have no choice but to browse on my phone, which apparently isn't very fond of Wikia, so I'm sure I'm missing something big. I apologize if such is the case. User:Dzylon/SigReal

Question about recent changes highlights

Hi Gracey, I've been told you were the one who implemented highlighting the names of admins in the recent edits feed. I was interested in this functionality, and see if I could spread it to a few other wikis. I looked at the common.js, but didn't really find what I was looking for. Could you point me in the right direction? happypal (talk • contribs) 20:27, February 11, 2012 (UTC)

Hey yeah thats true, i added all the css/js used here. The file your looking for is this one, surprisingly its done with just css. Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 04:04, February 12, 2012 (UTC)
Also don't forget to import the script to the Common.css file. Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 05:59, February 12, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! happypal (talk • contribs) 13:35, February 12, 2012 (UTC)

Ok: I have two questions:

  1. Is there a way to keep the style to only the recent edits feed? The way it is, it highlights the links to admins all over the site: User:happypal User:Gracey91. I'm not sure that was the initially desired behavior?
  2. Do you think you could make this into a customizable css? Currently, you extension defines a color for each group, but it is not possible for skins/and/or/users, to override those colors in a convenient way (short of copy pasting everything that is). I'm not an expert, but maybe it's possible to change your hilite to give each group the attribute "{class="admin-hilite"}" or something, and then define the actual colors inside Wikia.css or Monobook.css? This would be especially useful for wikis that have different color schemes for each skin.

I myself don't have enough css skill to do this though, short of trying things until it works :/ happypal (talk • contribs) 10:12, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

Hey happypal good to see it works on your wiki.
  1. Yes there is, it wasn't a desired feature but it never really bothered me. Although i might get Math to change the page now. Add this:
ul.special li a[title="User:Happypal"], td a[title="User:Happypal"],
ul.activityfeed li cite a[href="/wiki/User:Happypal"] {
       font-weight: bold;
2. As far as i know that can't really be done easily. Thats the way i have seen it done on all wikis and i'm not skilled enough to have any idea on how to do that. But i believe something like that would require js as well. Instead of adding it to your common.css add it to the individual skins css files so the colors schemes can be accounted for on different skins. Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 11:38, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

Hey, thanks again for the help. After having used the extension for about 2-3 weeks, I can safely say it is very helpful for everyone. happypal (talk • contribs) 09:39, March 7, 2012 (UTC)

Recent Changes

Hi, Gracey. I made some new templates for the spawn time section in infoboxes that I'd like your opinion on:

Sun Moon CharmNew (Anytime)

Pwnhammer Icon (Hard Mode)

... and one more thing. What do you think about merging the the Spawn Time and Spawn Area sections (in the Monster infobox) into one "Spawn Conditions" section? Path, Math, and myself have spoken of it, but you made the infoboxes, so I'd like you to decide before anyone moves forward. What say you? Oh yeah, there's an example on ForTesting. User:Dzylon/SigReal

Hey nice templates, they will work perfectly. Regarding combining the 2 sections i don't have a problem its just as soon as i edit the template to change the code it will remove the spawn conditions from all the infoboxes until someone edits them an adds in the correct syntax. So if use do decide to to it you will have to edit pretty much every single monsters page. Choice is yours. Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 04:14, February 12, 2012 (UTC)
Glad to hear. Changing the pages should be no problem, as general formatting/template work needed to be done on many of them anyway. User:Dzylon/SigReal

Pumpkin Head

The pictures are about to be up. If you see this go ahead & take a look.

Regarding templates, ideally, we want regular users to be able to edit them. If this is a problem, then we should protect most of the high-usage templates. I haven't been paying much attention to templates lately (busy with lots of other things), so I'm not aware of which ones are high-usage or which ones are being test edited, etc. If you could provide a list of templates that you want me to protect (and which level of protection they should receive), that would be helpful. As far as having a sandbox for editing templates and an area for proposing changes to templates, these are good ideas which I support. If you have an idea for implementing them, you're welcome to work on that. I'm willing to help, but if you have something that you want me specifically to do, you'll have to spell it out for me =)

Your Opinion?

User_talk:Mathmagician#Image_Policy <- Please RE here.

  • Dzylon recommends that .png be specified as the preferred quality image format in the image policy. I think it sounds good. Do you mind if I amend the image policy with this specification?
  • He's also concerned that some items can be crafted by both the Iron Anvil and Mythril Anvil, but on item pages the crafting station specified is only Iron Anvil. This is technically incorrect, but it's kind of implied that any item which can be crafted by Iron Anvil can also be crafted by Mythril Anvil. Dzylon's proposal was to turn Anvil into a disambig page and link to that page in infoboxes. I dislike this because I want to minimize linking to disambig pages (bad style). Can I get your opinion on this issue? Thanks,
    Mathmagician ( talk blog ) 04:35, February 14, 2012 (UTC)
Hey what i think is:
  • Go for it, .png's are the way to go.
  • I agree with you it is implied, as long as its mentioned clearly on the Iron Anvil page. I didn't check. Also the Mythril Anvil is for people who have a reasonable idea of how the game works, i think pretty much all of those people would know its multipurpose. By not doing the anvil it also prevents us from needing a furnace disambig. Gracey91 (talk contribs count) 04:53, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

Question about Status

I love the status thingy! Just one thing, how do I change it without having to go into my talk and clicking on your message? The only other idea I had was to set it as one of my Favorites. I guess I could also put a link next to the status that takes me to the page where I put Online, Offline, Sleep, (is it Sleep or Sleeping?) Busy, and Around. And if I put a link will people be able to edit it?

Orion76 15:32, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

Hey! Can you tell me how to put a picture or an image to a comment? Answer if you have time. Thanks :)

Tadz99 16:41, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

Someone moved it to Armors. I moved it back and protected it, but accidentally screwed up all of the comments in the process. (Well, not all of them, just the ones that were over 100, because you can only rename 100 subpages of the talk page with that button and I didn't consider that at the time...) How to fix this?
Mathmagician ( talk blog ) 04:53, February 15, 2012 (UTC)

I didn't realize moving something on top of a redirect would create a problem like that--can you explain that a little further? A redirect is a page, how come I wasn't warned that the page exists and that it needs to be deleted before moving? (The reason I didn't undo the move was because there was an intermediate edit, so I figured it would be faster just to move it back.) So in the future, just undo the move / revert to the last edit before the move, right? I guess I'll start deleting those. I hope I never make that mistake again...

Nominations - Please Try To Keep Things Calm

Hey, I know it's important to speak your mind, but let's not provoke one another. In particular, Pathogen -- "I chose not to ask you anything because I didn't judge it worth my time. I know you have a problem with me, it's blatantly obvious, it's a lot easier if you just admit it, too." -- These words will do nothing but provoke Gracey and do not help the situation. Remember, it is your nomination that is being discussed at the moment. You are the topic, not Gracey. You should certainly represent your position, but any comments pertaining to Gracey's editing habits or formulation of opinions are irrelevant at this time.

Gracey, your constructive criticism is rather frank and could be worded more carefully. The question of Pathogen's neutrality regarding recent events on the wiki with Hero is not very relevant to his nomination (beyond what it may say about his affinity for conflict resolution). It's also a sticky topic and should not be brought into the discussion. Furthermore, while you have been keen to offer criticism, you have hardly said a word about the good things Pathogen has done on the wiki. Given this skew, it's not surprising that Pathogen may interpret your words as biased and become offended.

Pathogen, Gracey is trying to offer criticism relevant to your nomination, not make a personal attack on you. Please do not be offended, nor start talking about him, as you are the topic for now. Gracey, please do not bring recent events regarding Hero into the discussion, nor formulate opinions based on that subject. Also, please try to offer a balance of criticism and praise. Basically, let's try to keep things calm. Please and thank you.

I'm sorry to hear that you won't be returning here, though I assumed as much. I know there was a lot of arguing etc. going on for a really long time here, and if the way things went down or anything that I did played a role in your decision, I apologize for that.

What saddens me the most is that you have no more interest in wiki-ing. While Terraria is a great game, this is just one Wikia wiki. I beg you to reconsider this, if at all possible. In the future, maybe you'll find another topic that interests you, and you could start up your own wiki for that topic, or maybe there's a different wiki farm where you could be at home. The hobby was wiki-ing, not just Terraria, and you are incredibly good at it. I understand that hobbies change and sometimes in life you just have to move on, but there's still so many more people that could potentially benefit from your efforts!

Thank you for all the time and effort you've put into this wiki. This might be a slight exaggeration, but this wiki could have completely fallen apart long ago were it not for you. You helped me out a lot too, and I might not even be here right now were it not for you. Please know that your efforts weren't fruitless. They were helpful to A LOT of people, even if they don't know it. Maybe you're not famous like Hero, and so you don't get the same recognition he does, but take the knowledge with you that you deserve that recognition nonetheless. There are at least a few people who know that. — Mathmagician talk blog 23:48, March 30, 2012 (UTC)

P.S. Thanks for granting me rights on your testing wiki, as it's a helpful resource and I'd like to share it with others. Also, if you do somehow change your mind and decide to maybe contribute to other wikis, let me know. I too am looking for the potential to expand into other areas, both here on Wikia and on other wiki farms. I wouldn't mind the possibility of working with you somewhere else =)
