Void portal visual

Void Bag sprite, spawned by using the item.

The Void Bag is a unique item that grants access to the Void Vault. When in the player's inventory, the Void Bag automatically stores items collected after the player's inventory is filled to capacity, which is indicated by purple pickup text.

When used manually, the Void Bag functions similarly to the Money Trough, providing a temporary point of access to the player's Void Vault that lasts for 3 minutes. The item is not consumed and can be used limitlessly.

The Void Bag has an "open" and "closed" state, which can be toggled with right click. A closed Void Bag will no longer pick up overflow items, and functions more like a Money Trough. An open Void Bag still picks up overflow items, and has the ability for the player to use Quick Buff, Food, and Potions from its Storage. The player can also craft with the bag's contents, and will collect overflow from looting chests.

Notes[]

  • You can craft with items stored in the Void Bag, but only when it's set to open.
  • The Void Bag is only obtainable after defeating Skeletron, as its crafting recipe requires Bones, which drop from enemies in the Dungeon.
    • However, defeating the Eater of Worlds / Brain of Cthulhu is not necessary: While summoning them at least once is required, Shadow Scales or Tissue Samples can be obtained by merely destroying a few segments of the Eater of Worlds or a few Creepers, respectively; the bosses do not have to be defeated.
    • In a drunk world, it is obtainable before defeating Skeletron, as Dungeon enemies can spawn prior to defeating the boss.
  • The Void Bag will not pick up quest fish if the player's inventory is full or contains another quest fish of the same type. However, the fish can still be placed inside the bag manually, and any quest fish already within the Void Vault will not prevent the player from picking up another in their inventory.
  • The Void Bag will not pick up Etherian Mana, but the Mana can be placed into the bag manually or via Quick Stack.
  • Potions and food in the Void Bag will be activated with the Quick Buff key, if it's set to open.
  • Money stored in the Void Bag are available when making purchases from NPCs, functioning like the Piggy Bank
  • All keys that open chests work while inside the Void Bag, including the Temple Key, if the Void Bag is set to open.
  • Informational accessories function from inside a Void Bag, so they should always be kept there if possible.
  • Quick Stack will deposit all items in a Void Bag.

Trivia[]

Void Bag spoiler

The earlier version of the Void Portal.

  • Earlier versions of the Void Bag had a dark purple portal, more resembling the portals from the Potion of Return in the current game.
  • The Void Bag's portal is known internally as "VoidLens".
