死亡是指玩家的生命值降至0。取决于玩家以何种方式死亡,游戏会显示一条死亡信息。比如“<Player name> tried to swim in lava.”会当玩家死于熔岩时显示。
玩家死亡时会在其位置生成一个墓石射弹。当滚落到一个合适的空位时,它会转变为一个2×2的图格。它可以类似标牌一样保存一段文字,里面存有玩家的死亡信息和现实世界日期。如果玩家在死亡时在移动,那么墓石最初的滚动方向就会和移动方向一致。如果附近没有平坦的2格空间放置墓石图格,墓石会在一段时间后消失。
如果玩家在死亡时持有至少10生成的墓石将会是以下5中金墓石之一:
死亡时,屏幕中央会出现大红字体的"You were slain...",且其下方会显示掉落的钱币,以及一个显示复活时间的倒计时。
死因
死亡可能是因为:
- 敌怪、Boss,以及,在 PvP 中,其他玩家,所造成的伤害
- 溺水
- 熔岩
- 机关、爆炸物,以及诸如爆破弹这样对玩家造成伤害的爆炸性武器
- 掉落伤害
- 减益,通常是敌怪造成的,并会随着时间推移造成伤害
- 伤害性增益:圣骑士护盾和伴方
- 过于频繁地摧毁祭坛失败
难度间差异
软核角色会掉落带着的物品栏槽中每叠钱币的一半、3/4或全部(向上取整)。[1] 存放在收纳物品中的钱币不受影响。
[[中核|]]角色会掉落身上所有的物品,包括钱币和弹药。最大生命和魔力会被保留而非减到默认。
[[硬核|]]角色会掉落所有携带的物品。此外,角色死亡后会被立即删除并变为鬼魂,无法与环境互动,但仍然可以观察、四处游荡、与其他玩家聊天。

备注
- 如果玩家死于远程攻击,死亡讯息中不会包含发射此射弹的实体的名称,而是使用射弹名字,比如“<玩家名字> was slain by 希腊烈火.”
- 玩家从死亡到重生之间需要等待15秒。在家模或师模的boss战中该数值会翻倍。
- 因PvP死亡会使玩家重生时生命值全满。这也应用于用诸如爆炸物之类的物品自己造成的死亡。
- 玩家死亡时掉落的钱币数量是依每个物品栏格分别计算的。因舍入误差,实际掉落量可能要大于50% / 75%的总价值。比如,在40个物品格中每格放1,总计40时死亡永远会导致全部40掉落,因为每1的50% / 75%向上舍入之后都是1。
小贴士
- 墓石机制在定位死亡后掉落的物品/钱币时会很有用,因为墓石通常落在玩家死亡之处附近。
- 小地图上会显示一个符号,显示玩家最近一次的死亡位置,以便玩家快速返回。
- 在多人模式 Boss 战期间,最后一个活着的玩家应当防守以等到其他玩家重生后重返战斗。如果所有玩家都距离太远,Boss可能会消失。
- 如果天虫宠物在死亡时存在,它会说"再见!"然后掉落一个奇怪的墓石。
花絮
- 死亡后出现的“You were slain...”文字在游戏的 Old-gen console version and Nintendo version中不会出现。
- 在 Console version上,“You were slain...”讯息在不透明的文本背后还会有一个褪色且半透明的版本在以一种吓人的方式闪烁着。
- 一些来自 . 的实体的死亡讯息没有明确提及原因。

- 大多数PvE死亡信息(英语)语法不正确。怪物名称之前没有不定冠词"a",且其首字母永远大写。
